:,bstrcct The instrument is intended for detection of flaws in diffi-
culty-accessible machine parts., welding seams, or boilers.
It consists of an indicator block and a power supply which
are structurally independent of each other, and which are
interconnected during operation with a ton-meter cable. The
indicator block weighs 5 kg and measures 16 x 19 x 25 cm. If
necessary it can be suspended on the chest of the operator.
In adilition, the instrument can be used as a stationary lab-
oratory ultrasonic flaw detector. It is proviced with the
necessary probe heads for the control of articles by long-

TEXT: A method is given for calculating the magnetic and
electric circuits, time constant5 and amplification factors and
other parameters of three-stage amplidynes,. In the second stage
of amplification the need to allow for m m.f.,s resulting from
irregularities in the air gal) is demonstrated, Special features
are pointed out in the calculation of individual sections of the
weakly saturated magnetic circuit of the third stage of
amplification which is used to ensure a linear relationship
between the e.m.f. and the magnetisation current, By wa y a f
example, the calculations are made for an amplifier of 4,4 kW,
200 V, running at 2000 r. p m.
