Title The Cherry Tree in the Eastern Rodopi
Orig Pub Ovoshcharstvo i gradinarstvo, 1956, No 5, 5-9
Abstract The cherry tree is the most widespread cultivation in the
Eastern Rodopi where it thrives on say soil and location, ap-
pears on flat ground as well as On slopes of up to 300, in
valleys and elevations of up to 900 m above sea levelt it
blooms early and bears fruit every year. Almost without
care, the trees reach huge dimensionz,, up to 15 m in height,
and yield crops of 50 to 200 kg from one tree. Besides the
European varieties (Napoleon, Dcaisen, Drogan yellow and others),
there are many local Bead fonns and kinds) as well as some
improved wild forms. Some of the local kinds even form root
shoots (a rather rare phenomenon for this sort). A description
of 5 local varieties of the cherry is given: white (Akkirez),
red (Kyl-mzakirez), black (Karak-irez), Bibue (Khadzhi maalebitme)

Orig Pub : Izv. Bblgar, AN. Otd. fiz.-matem. i tekhn. n., ser. fiz., 1956, 5, 121-134
Abstrdct : As a continuation of the imvestigationB of non-resonant oscillations of
two-segment magnetrons, tarried out earlier by Rayev and Uzunov (Referat
Zh. Fizika, 1956, 35396), the authors undettook a detailed study of the
connection between the conditions of occurrence of these oscillations
and the magnitude of the emission current. Experiments were carried out
with two-segment'Philips TAM 1-5/50 L magnetrons (anode radius r,= 0.5
cm, length of anode cylinder ~, W 2 cm) and four~legnented Teleftmkts MS
50/14 R magaetrons'(ra -:= 0.45 4, la':~ 0.8 cm). The basic parameter
characterizing the non-resonant oscillations was taken to be the minimum
value of the active resistance of the external aperiodic system, RI min'

at which the above oscillations can occur. In both cases, R'mi
diminishes with diminishing emission current and when the currat
was sufficiently small it was possible to obtain non-resonant oscil-
lations nven with short-circuited segments. A hypothesis is proposed
that in the latter case the role of the active resistance between
the segments, nieded to maintain the oscillatioas,.is played by the
radiation resistance of the conductors, which is on the order of several
tenths of an ohm. The wavelength of the investigated oscillation is
subject to the known Posthumus law, with the constant having a value
on the order of 1600. In the four-segment magnetron it was more dif-
ficult to obtain non-tcoonant oscillations; it was necessary to have
for this purpos 'e very small emission currents (approximately ten
microamperes for the case of short-circuited segments),L The'limit.ing
case of a magnetron with short-circuited segments to be investigated
was a magnetron with a solid anode, in which non-resonant oscillations,
obeying the Posthumus law, were also observed, with the constant I
ranging from 1700 to 1800. It is noted that owing to the absence of

it is difficult to explain the latter case within the framework

ABSTRACT: If operating conditions are carefully selected it is possible
to separate minerals which differ in density by Q.1
according to the method referred to by the title. 'I"he reason
why the method is rarely used is that the theory of the pro-
cess has not yet been sufficiently studied and developed.
The mineral grains move in the suspension of the weighting
compound and trajector-Jes are described by them which depend
on the density and velocity of the siis,,~ension as well as on
the density and size of the grains. In the present cane the
investigations were carried out ..,ith an aqueous suspension
of magnetite. The denaity and distribution of grain sizes,

suitable where high accuracy is not required, while

TITLE: Coagulation of Phosphorite Mud
PERIODICAM Khimicheskaya promyshlennost', 1959, Nr 6, PP 537 - 539
(USSR)
ABSTRACT: When the suggestion made by the GIGKhS concerning a second
enrichment of phosphorite ore according to tho flotation
method was carried out in the Bryanskiy foaforitnyy zavod
(Bryansk phosphorite plant) no effective coagulation of
the stable mud was achieved. The granulometric characteristic
values of the ground phosphorite ore, of the mud to be
coagulated, and of the coagulated product are given (Table 1)
and it is stated that the phosphorite pulp contains much
stable mud (Table 2) and is consequently slow in settling
out, which'is the reason for the loss of fine fractions of
the phosphate substance with the waste water. With
A. I. Risovannyy, B. S. Lakhter, N. M. Khlebalova, and
V. G. Kemova participating, polyacrylic amide (proposed and
produced by the Vsesoyuznyy tiauclino-issledovatellskiy institut

Coagulation of Phosphorite Mud SOV/64-59-6-23/28
was investigated as coagulating agent. The coagulating agent
was introduced into the pulp tube by means of a funnel (Fig).
From 5 experiments (Table 3) the following was found: the use
of polyacrylic amide as coagulating agent decreases the loss
of phosphate due to waste water 20 times. The optimum
consumption of the coagulating agent is 25 9/t of phosphorite
mud. When polyacrylio amide is used the solid substance content
of the coagulated mud is 5M6' (up to a maximum of 56"'1.). The
coagulating agent should be added as close as possible to the
point where the pulp enters the feeding funnel of the coagula-
tor and should be thoroughly stirred. There are 1 figure,
3 tables, and 3 Soviet references.
