The present paper
investigates the dependency of the probability of
the production
of pion@ on the occasion of the collision of protons
with nuclei
containing A nucleons. In the range of heavy nuclei
the observed
produ on rate ofpions increases with growing A with
M
a rate less then A
. In order to explain this fact it can be as-
sum*d, that a
considerable absorption of photons striking the nuo-
leus takes
place apart fvom a great probability for the absorption
of the
pion generatedwithia the nucleus. lbsorption here means the
effective disparition of protons which are able to generate
pion*
from the be&& of ra4iation. A number of other causes for
the do-
Ylation from the A3/2- law are partioulari'sed. The
absorption of
mesons is supposed to be large effectively over
the entire periodic
system. The expression for the orose-sootion

ABSTRACT: The cross section for elastic and inelastic neutron

is theoretically calculated for molecules which consist of
2 equal or 2 different atom . The zero ovoillation of the
molecules
is taken into account. The general foraulas obtained can be
applied
to the scattering on T j HT and DT-moleoulss. The comparison of
tboexporimentally fOUAI data for the scattering cross section on
these molecules with the values obtained from the derived
formulae
creates the possibility to determine the amplitude of the
neutron
scattering on the tritium nucleus.

ABSTRACTs The latest experimental data on the
[3-_~).-correjption show
that the positron decay processes of Ne'9 and AJI can be
explained by a mixture of the A- and V- ariants of 0 -inter-
action, while the electron decays of lie and of the free
neutrons are dependent on the T- and Qviously on the S-
-variant. In the positron decay of Co' the experiments
analogously show a weak interference of the Fermi inter-
action and the Gamov-Teller interaction, while thfWnter-
feUnce is very great in the electron decay of Au and
Sc . When all these experiments are looked upon as
correct these facts sharply contradict the present theory.

a renunciationcf the symmetry of the particles ard anti-
particles in weak interactions. Then the antiparticles are
no longer an exact analogon of the corresponding particles
with opposite charge. Their 2masses can, for instance, dif-
fer by an amount of about g (square of the constant of
weak interactions). First the self-adjoint, relativistical-
ly invariant Pmiltonian of the 0-decay is put down, con-
taining a t e , 9 and V in an asymmetric way. At a time
inversion all constants are to be substituted by their
conjugated complex values. The usual theory of A-decay
in obtained when certain constants are equal to one an-
other. A similar separation into a positive frequency part
and a negative frequency part can also be carried out with
the operation of the nucleons. It Is, however, not certain
if -this has any sense. The above mentioned Hamiltonian is
non-local and therefore holds Ll((x ). 11(x,)] ~ 0; when

S refer to electrons thia means the abolition of the cau-
nality in the weak interactions at distances of about h/m c.
There is no such localization for a neutrino field. This ?a
a serious objection against the considerations given here.
As, however, the theoretical principles earlier regarded as
absolutely correct (the conservation of the parity and the
in-
variance with respect to the charge conjut;atedness) were
generally dropped. An experimental checkina of the scheme
developed here ia neverthelese useful. An exIct comparison
of the ratio between the probabilities of tC*-decay and
K-apture of one and the same nucleus with e value pre-
dicted by the usual theory would be especially desirable.
An analogoys but difficult experiment is the comparison
between A -decay and the absorption of the antineutrino
by a proton. There are 3 references, U of which arg Soviet.
