To improve the oxidation resistance of the coating, chromium carbide is used as a filler. In a variant of the method, the silicate-natal binder consists of 15-25 (weight) parts qhyqjdMu 2-6 parts.boron 65-75 parts nickel and 3-10 pirta silicon. TITt.E: Condenser-dischar8e Welding of Bicycle Frdmes (Kondensat6rnaya svarka velosipednykh ram) PERIODICAL: Tekhnol,. avtomobilestroyeniya, 1958, Nr 2, pp 36-41 ABSTRACT: The novel technological process of condenser - discharge welding (CW) of permanently joined members of bicycle frames developed by the NIlTavtoprom (Scientific Research Institute of Technology for the Automobil-c Industry) substantidlly reduces the amount of lab'or required as well as the weight of the bicycles. The employment of the CW significantly reduces the consumption of ferrous and nonferrous metals and auxiliary materials dnd eliminates such operations as the manufacture of fittings, their attachment. etc. The electrical circuitry of GW is examined. Technical specifications and photo- graphs of the CW machine are given. At a current of tip to 300.000 amp the p,--oductivity of the machine amounts to 100- 125 welding Card 1/2 operationE per hour. As a result of tivesligations carried out to Condenser-discharge Welding of Bicycle Frames SOV/137-58-11-22732 determine optimal conditions for CW, relationships were established between the strcnpth of the welded joints and the current density, the charge potential, the com- pression force, the overhang of the pipe, etc. (the data are compiled in the form of diagrams). Vibration- strength tests yielded favorable results. A prototype of an industrial CW machine was designed and constructed. The employment of the CW technique reduces the labor from 41-44 to 5-15 minutes pt!r frame and lowers the co:st of manufacture per frame from 12-13 to 5-7 rubles. B. K. Such starting materials were also of interest from the standpoint of the effect of repeat-unit structure on polymer iproperties, and because such polymers could be modified by treatment with metal salts. Homo- and co-polymeric polyaryl esters were prepared from the d1hydrozy- anthraquinones and torephthelic and Isophthalic acids, and phenolphthalein by i polycondensation In high boiling solvents. It was found that homo- and co polymeric polyaryl eaters from quinizarin and terephthelic or Isophthalic ;cids, and from alizarin blue and terephthalic acid have high softening points# sogto 475-500C for the polymer from quitkizarin and torephthalle- acid. Study of the effects of the dibasic phenol upon the structure of the product and of the azo group upon its color was of partic- ular interest. Experimental work was performed using methods described by the authors in earlier publications (Vysokomolek, soyods, 6, 2174j 1964; 7t )22t 1965; 7j 1%31 1965). It wne found that pj~lyarylates of I with IV and V do not nolt but decompose above 4000. Such solutions can be used for preparing strong,, transparent yellow films which, when heated for several hours at 250C, still Wintain up to 50% of' thoir original tensile strength.
