ABSTRACT. The best conditions for the production process and heat
treatment of alloys containing not only Fe, but 35% Co And
0. 4-0. 06% Cr. to guarantee a combination of satisfactory
magnetic propertied (MP) and adequate ductility, are sought.
The effect of other Alloying elements (Si. Zr., Al.) are invest-
igated. It is found that in order to obtain the beat MP it is
necessary to cool the alloy slowly (200/hr) otter iinnealing
at 850-9000C. However, the metal is brittle In this state.
Ductility improves on oil cooling, but this brings a certain
impairment of the MP. Cooling in a magnetic field improves
MP in the direction of current flow. The most favarable
effects upon MP are afforded by combined addltior~ of Cr and Si.

ABSTRACT: The authors studied the effoot of Irradisticn, with 4 M*V,
deuterons on eleotrioal realetanae of the ordering alloys
Ni P9.4 Pe Al and the ageing alloy with 36~ Ni, 4.6* T1 and
tJ rest 3;G. Samples were of 20-30 tA%ic1mo&s which
ensured interaction of deuterons with Cho laitibe &tax*
throughout the whole sample. before measursitent, samples
were subjected to various forms Of host treatutoat, The
ordered state of the Ni F9 alloy was obtained by slow

The disordered states of the N13pe, p*SLI alloys vere pro-
duced by quenchIng from 850*0. kg*Lng of the Fe-Ni-ft alloy
was achieved by four-hour heating of cold-doforsed samples at
70000. The latter alloy was also tests4 after quenahIAS from
100000. For irradiation the samples were plaosd in a cassette
oooled by runnin$ water. The deutaron ourreat density did
not exceed 1 IjAlozl~, and the temgerature of the sample during
irradiation did not rise above 40 0. Blectrical resistance
was measured by means of a potentiometer bof3ro and after
irradiation. The results are shown in Tablas 1-3. Irradiation
increased, in general, the electrical r saisttince of the
annealed (ordered) Pe Al and deareased that of the quen*hod
Fe3Al. The electrical resistanee of both tho quenched and
the annealed (ordered) Ni:sPa fell Nith increase of the
integral do Ile ceivad. Low intenottiss of irradiation,
up to 5 x Oil* deuterons/am:2, decreased the eleatrioal

TExr: The effect of deuteron irradiation upon the electric resistance N
of alloys N13Fe, Fe3AI undergoing ordering and of an alley of qe with 35% NI
and 4.5% Ti undergofng aging was investigated. The specimens -4*re Irradiated In
a cyclotron with deuterons having an energy of 4 Nev, The thiArAss of the
specimens constituted 20 - 30,1~,. The R measurement was oarried out by the
potentiometric method. Becauie of the small dimensions of the specimens the
voltage and the current leads constituted a single whole with -.he working part.
The specimens of Nl3Fe and of Fe3Al were investigated in the ordered and the
unordered states; the specimens of Fe-NI-TI - in the aged and hardened states.

Action of deuteron irradiation ... AW/AlO1
It was established that when the ordered F*3Al alloy is irradlattd its R is
increased considerably. and the A of the hwdened a3loy - drops. The bombarding
of the N13Fe alloy in the ordered and unordered states causes & onsIderablo
decrease in R. In all cases irradiation In fluxes up to 5 ' 1011 deuterons per
1 =2 causes a sharp change in R. at a further Increase of the total flux the
rate of change of R drops. The effects uncovered In the F4i4Ni--TI alloy do not
exceed the limits of experimental errors. It to considered Uum the most
probable process causing the reduction in R is the ordering. I considerable
drop in the R of the alloy NIgFe is noted, whose degree of ordering corresponds
to a temperature of 250 - 300 C. In this alloy a further ocourrenc* of ordering
under irradiation is possible. The shape of the R c4irves of the Irradiated
specimens tempered at 2500C confirms the hypothesis as to the attainment of an
intermediate degree of ordering as result of the Irraiiation. ::n ta"ring the
N13Fe the soaking time of the specimens at the respective temperatures was In-
sufficient to obtain an equilibrium. The character of the R Yarlation of an
irradiated unordered specimen is close to tho R variation of an unIrradistod
ordei,ed specimen. In tempering the Fe-Nl-Ti alloy no great difference in the
behavior of irradiated and unirradiated apeoimons was discovoriod.

This effect can be attributed to the higher v.%t-ancy coiAtant.oxtsiing
during and after irradiation; this accel*rates dIffusion during'
subsequent ageing but only in the initial stage of -the process
(cf Fig.2), after which the rate of ordering ottaiAs the level
characteristic for this particular temperature.
(2) On the basis of electrical resistance measuromients, it con
be postulated that accelerated diffusion, caused by neutron
bombardment, brings the material treated nearer to th* state of
equilibrium. In some cases, such a state cannot be attained by
heat treatment, owing t.) the slow rates of diffusion at low
temperatures. (3) Ch.-inges in 9 and 41t1 of ountaltd. (ordered)

increased by neutron bombardment. In an annealed specimen in whIch

the alloys studied shows that the magnetic properties are more
sensitive to neutron irradiation than the electrical ones. it to
most likely that the change in the magnetic properties is brought
about not by a change in the degree of order but by radiatioa

defects whose concentration must be relatively large, since the
change in magnetic properties persists for long oriods after
irradiation. In experiments carried out at 350VC the ofrect of
neutron bombardment on the magnetic properties was obliterated by
the effect of temperature, owing to which the concentration or
residual radiation defects was low. It was only In the case of
annealed alloys N13Fs and Ni3Mn (in which the degree of order WaW
considerably increased by neutron bombArdsment) that a c*nsiderable~:
change in the magnetic properties was observed Me of Btl Fe

Several series of 15 - 20 measurements of I are made under good
ventilation conditions at tle center of this plate,. Then the plate
is cemented along its edges and coverbd with grease. The equilibri-
um between radium and radon comes in 10 - 15 days. Then 1 0 is mea-

radon in order to ascertain the moment when the measurements of 10

ABSTRACT: Vinyl acetylene h3-drocarbons with alkyl radicalo at the teraintl
carbon atono of the combined system may be obtained by the de-
hydration of secondary acteylene alcohols. Thane compounds
were of interest to the authors witb respoat to their styrene
dimerization (Hof 1). In the present paper the dehydration
of four seconiary icteyleno alcohols was Izvottigated: ino-
propyl-acetylone carbinol (Formula 1), n-propyl-'acetylenyl
c&rbinol [II), isopropyl-(mothylacetylonyl)-carbinoI (III) &nd
othyl-(mothylaostylanyl)-carbinoI (IV) (not n4 roar formulfte

empiric formulae C 7H 10 and C6 RO. The secordmry apP-acotylene
alcohols with in acetylene tertainal grotti, do not --separate

ABSTRACT: Test data are given for the experimental determination of the
optimum axial-flow velocity value obtained from two single-istage
ducted axial-flow fans equipped with rectiTication devices and charac-
terized by different specific speeds. Relationship charts are plotted
showing the dependence of the efficiency of the ducted axial-flow fan
upon the air-flow rate, the angular pitch setting of the impeller
vanes, and the recovery coefficient of the dynamic pressure. An
empirical expression is obtained for the determination of the opti-
mum axial-flow velocity in terms of the paxameters of the fan.

ABSTRkCTt The article contains a criticism of A.M. Kosolapov Is
lecture, now published &S a booklet entitled "The tc*nomic
Structure of the Chinese P*~plels Republic". The book
deals with the sconoaic background of the Chinese revolution
and the conversion of economv on a socialAstic basis. The
criticism is partly a doctrinaire dis;uW of the reviewers
who, on many points, disagree with the view* set forth by
Kosolapov. Thus, for instance, according to the reviewers,
opinion, Kooolapov seen the objective premises of the Chi-
nese revolution mainly in the crisis of the capitalistic
world's economic system, and examines the internal contra-
dictions existing in China only superficially. The re-
viewers, however, consider that the aggravation of the In-
ternal and external contradictions have created objective
conditions for a rel,:Jution. They further state that the
Card 112 booklet contains ;let inaccuracies which have distorted the

sense of the revolution's phenomena and processes.
The reviewers claim that in the booklet the position of
the classes in the country, the moving fdreas of the re-
volution, and the role of the working class and its leader -
the Communist Party - have been poorly repz*sented. This,
in the reviewers' opinion, to due to the fact that Kosolapov
is lacktng a clear understanding of the country's economic
situation.
They further object to the statistical fIgQres not being
always correct, and in conclusion thoy reerst. that the Le-
ningrad Univereity has recommended the booklet to instructors
and sludents as an aid for the course of political economy.
