ABSTRACT: Two new typez of machines were constructed M%jt4 -
6000 and
MBn - 12.000. The first machine is to replace the obsolete
type H)' and in principle cor.sists of two rotating cylinders
which have a spindle with cone pliers to keep the sample.
The load mechanism permits Et load of 10-100 kg and automatical-
ly registers the destruction moment of the sample under
investigation. The maximum bending moment amounts to 500 kg/cm.
The maximum tension load of a sample of 9,48 mm 0 amounts
to 60 kg/mm2. The error limit of the measurements is given
with + 2 %. The second machine in somewhat more complicated
and a-dditionally has an electrical furnace for investigatiag

it
is - in principle - constructed like the first machine.

ABSTRACT: As the universal machine P-5 was already
obsolete and did not
meet the demands made by the GOST 7855-55 a new machine
for sub-
jeoting metals to tensional-, pressure-, and transversal
bending
tests was worked out by the special construction office
for
testing machines and was approved by the Arma7ir-Works
for Testing
Machines. In principle the working mechanism of the new
machine
is the same as that of the P-5. The maximum stress is
mentioned as
being 5 t; the maximum moment in transversal bending is 5
kgm;
the maxiLzm distance in tensile *;ests is 800 mm; the maxl
spacing lietween pressure plates is 720 m; in bending
tests it
amounts to 400 mm; the inner spa!,-ing between columns
amounts to
460 mm; the lower holder moves vith a velocity of 0.5 to
100 mff/
minute, and the power developed 1by the electric motor is
mentioned
as being 0.6 kilowatts. The machine has tw, automatic

ABSTRLCT% The Kaliningrad Plant "Stroydormash" has planned to
increase pro-
duction of welded structures twice by 1965. The road machines
manu.11'actured by the plant are, on the whole, welded
structures
with different joints. The largest part of the work performed
at
the -
plant consists of assembling and welding; hence the importance
of tile mechanization of these operations. Tile plant , in
co-operft-
tion with the All-Union Planring-Teelinological Institute of
Build-

years,
on the introduction of a complex mechanization and perfection
of
welding processes. During tli.-,s time, over 250 new devices
were de-
velaped and put into operation. Mechanized methods of welding
and
assembling are particularly applied in manufacturing
snog-ploughs,
boilers and bridge-layer frmues; a number of special

TITLE: Heat resisting lubricant for threaded connections
PERIODICAL: Vest),,.ik mashinostroyeniya, no. 3, 1961~ 30-32
TEXT: The authors investigated several lubricants up to 6000
and
discovered lubricant XC(ZhS) which completely eliminates the
burns of threaded connections. (Ref.; Author's certiricate
no.
128093 of July 17, 1959). The lubricant is a mixture of
cylinder
oil no. 52("vapor") according to GOST 6411-52 and lead
carbonate
in the ratio of 2:3. The latter ingredient is ground with
small
additions of oil in order to obtain a homogeneous paste
consisten-
cy. ZhS was checked in a large number of laboratory
experiments
at 11000 and in working conditions up to 6000, without
traces of
burns. The pro erties of the lubricant are: Specific weight
at
200C 1.64 g/cm3, temperature of inflammation according to
Brenken
- 3000C,, The changes of its characteristics with the
temperature
are tabulated. The chemical analysis of the residue after

at 600 0 during 1 hour indicates that it consists of 33.6% of
me-
tallic lead and 8.8% of lead oxide. The residue of lubricant
after
cooling-, represents a mass of small solidified drops of lead
co-
vered with oxide which prevents them from fusing. A large
number
of experiments were carried out at 60C10 with the ZhS as well
as
other lubricants, such as chalk paste made of mixture of MK oil
and chalk Dowder, graphite paste no. 1 (mixture of MK oil and
col-
loidal graphite), graphite paste no. 2 (mixture of cylinder oil
no. 52 with colloidal graphite and finally - talcum paste - a
mix-
ture of cylinder oil no. 52 and tal(,-,un. ZhS proved to be
the best
and is recommended for practical appl.:Lcations. It is now
being
used in productio-n. During the 2 yeari3 it has been used it
has
proved itself well. Investigations we-re made on the effect of
thread clearances on the burnii which proved to be slight.
Experi-
ments were also made on the diffusion of molten lead Into the
sur-
face of components and its effect on 'the strength of the
latter.
A study was made on the effect of the lubricant as well as that
of the -pure lead on the heat resistance of steel
3V(EI)481,which
is used for bolts working at high temperature. Lead oxide in

as the
amount of the lubricant in the clearances is .mall and

replenished. Experiments with the former were carried out at

TLXT: Three typical control problems are formulated and
their solutions by modern mathematical meth!)ds are compared. In
the first problem the boundary conditions (initial and final
states) are defined for the controlled process in terms of vectors
in phase space. A control law is required satisfying the given
transition and pro,,iding an extremal value of a prescribed quality
criterion. In the second problem the optimisation is with
respect to the motion of the process in phase space, and the
boundary conditions are not prescribed. The*third problem re :quires
a given relationship to be respected between tlie output and input
coordinates of the procesrs'(including as a special case the

methods
of classical variational calculus, and Pontryagin's principle of

Title Oil well drilling with line-treated mull
Periodical Neft. khoz., v. 33, #10, 28-31, 0 1955
Abstract The author reports on conditions which improved the
drilling fluid. When passing through lime-containing
strata, the calcium partia-les present in the sludge
can become properly suspended in the drilling mud by
the addition of some chemical reagents, thus allowing
a reduction of the clay content in the drilling fluid.

TEXT- The authors describe the methods and results of
investigating the
effect of oxidation upc-n the strength of pressed Joints
during short time in:
tervals between the unpresseed state and repeated pressing.
The results of in
vestigations show that the strength of a repeatedly
press-formed joint increases
if the time of holding the joint parts in the unpressed state,
does not exceed
one hour. Holding over 3 hours reduces the strength of
repeatedly pressed joints.
A reduction of the repeated pressing force observed at short
holding time (up to
10 min) is apparently explained by the appearance of an
elastic after-effect- de-
formations of the shaft and bushing can not fully disappear.

ABSTRACT: The mechanical properties of polyamide (Kapron B,
resin P-68) and
polyethylene coatings, as well as thQir lubricating properties
and abrasive strength, were
investigated in relation to the method of application
(flaxne-spraying and fluidized-bed
spraying) and tho stract-11re of the material. Flame-spraying
did not give stable adhesion
of the films to metal; the method of fluidized-bed spraining
resulted in higher adhesion and
higher, more stetble, values for shear, bending and impact
strength, Iliermai treatment
caused the strucimre of polyamide coatings to change and
affected their mechanical pro-
perties. Coatings 00DICId in water with an amorphous atructure
were more elastic and did
not fall even undor high distortiozi stresses. The lubricating
proportiesi were tested on an

abrading machine denigtied.by Zaytsev. The apparatus is described
and Illustrated. A
graph of the coefficient of friction plotted against load showed
that with an increase in the
load, the stability of tho moment of friction decreases and
discontinuout3 variations become
frequent in all samples. The most stable moment of friction was
obtained with Kapron
heat-treated In oil. Sharp discontinuous variations In fhe moment
of friction were found
for polyethylene films. Kapron coatings, regardless of the cooling
and heat-treating
methods, endured loads up to 90 kg/cm2, after which peeling and
failure of the film set in.,:
A diagram showing the variation In the coefficient of friction with
time indicated sufficient
stability forall samples coated with Kapron. Polyethylene coatings
can be recommended
i for machine parts subjected to impact stress, but they are
unsuitable under high distor-
tion stress and their adliesion to metal is low. Kapron films can
be used as lubricating
agents at sinall loads (ul: to'20 kg/cm )and at low shear rates (up
to 0. 2 m/sec. in case
of dry abrasion. Orig. art. has: 4 figures.

ABSTRACT: This. Author's Certificate introduces a d-tvice for
simultaneously flash weld-
Ing edge -J'oints by uaiT4;i high frequency currents.. 'the unit
contains an inductor locat-
ed above the ends of tho crimped edges and a high-Irequency generator
supply unit.
High quality welding of weakly, crimped edges is pr4)vided by making
the inductor in the
form of a coil with a c(;mfiguration which conforms to the perimeter
of the components
to be welded. This coil ls~surrounded by a ferrift core with
electromagnetic screens
at points not subjeated.to welding. The power supply for the
