A concentrate of a mixture of these three crude oils deasphaltized with propane; the lubricating oil is then obtain- ed by the acid-contact, selective, or adsorption refining methods. The adsorption method was found to be the most effective. The oil produced by this method of refining possesses high antioxidation and anticorrosion properties due to the lower I tar content. TITLE: Silicon Zener diodes under energy-balance operating conditions PERIODICAL: Pribory i7tekhnika eksperimenta, no. 1, 1962, 132 - 133 TEXT: Silicon Zener diodes can easily be temperature- compensated, in which case their stability can be as high as 0.0040o' for the temperature range from 10 - 50 'C (Ref. 1 - J.A. Chandler - Electronic Engng., 1960, no. 2, 78). However, these diodes, when used as reference-voltage sources under pulsed conditions, suffer from the disadvantage that a com-,- paratively large thermal voltage drift occurs during the first few minutes after switching-on. It is suggested that this difficulty can be overcome by feeding a suitable current into the diode in the forward direc tion during the off-period. The current should be such that the power dissipated in the diode when operating as a reference-voltage source and when conducting Card 1/2 Silicon Zener diodes S/12o/62/000/001/031/061 E192/E382 in the forward direction should be equal. It was found experi- mentally that by employing -this method the thermal drift could be reduced to 100 -~tV. Diodes operated in this manner can be used in digital automatic compensators and for generating rectangular pulses of high-amplitude stability. There are 3 figures. The assumptions on which this demonstration is based are: Blithe converters and the damping circuits are ideal; each damping ~,Icircuit operates in phase with the corresponding converter; the amplifiers are identical and their transfer i functions are constant for L~r t t-r" and zero for wr < ur, .
