TEXT: This describes mechanical filters and their advantages in
comparison with other filter types. Fundamental equations based on
the laws of Hooke and Newton are deduced, giving the relationship

between the electrical characteristi-cs of a T-section equivalent
filter circuit and the mechanical parameters of the resonant sys-
iem (stren-th, modulus of elasticity, dimensions, speed of
deforma-
tion, etc.~. The most, suitable material in respect of the
frequency
/temperature coefficient appears to be cast iron. Attt the input
and
output of the filters there are transformers of electrical
oscilla-
tuions to mechanical and vice versa. The application regions of
the

transducers are calculated. By means of equivalent circuits of
the
filters and transducers it is possible to find thp relationshi-o
between the transfer functions of the filter and the mechanicai
system parameters. The advantages of the mechanical filters with
Uorsion oscillations are compared with those having longitudinal
os-
cillations. The filter frequency characteristics are desfibed;
mea-
suring methods and the frequency response are discussed for the
me-
--hanical filters operating at f. = 68 kc/s with a bandwidth of
