AUTHORt Balashenko, V.Kh., Engineer SOV-11~,_58-P-18/24 TITLEs Removable Ballast Tamping Machines (S"ydmnyye shpalopodbi- vochnyye mashiny) PERIODICALt Mekhanizat 11 iya trudoyfmkikh i tyazhdlykh rabot, 1958, Nr 8, pp 36-38 (USSR ) ABSTRAM Special ballast tamping machines were constructed to mechanize the heavy manual work in the maintenance of railway lines. A removable electric ballast tamping machine consists of a frame, a lifting-lowering mechaniaml sixteen ballast tampers and 2 electric motors of 1.7 and 0.6 kw driving gear and a brake. A PES-15 electric power plant, placed on an attached trailer serves as the power source. Further statistics on this machine are given with diagrams and photos. There are 2 photos and 3 diagrams. 1. TOPIC TAGS: forroolectric material, pAe ~g~oe piezoelectric modulus, electric polarization, solid solution, bqrJum titanate, load, strontium, x1rconate, q!2piu alcium, ijobalt, dielectric constani7 A13STMCT: The direct and inverse piezooler-tric effects wore investigated in 30 x 3 x 1.5 MM3 specimens of polarized and unpolarized forroolectric ceramics with the compositions Pb0.95Sr0.05(Zr0.53Ti0.47)03 * 1% Nb2O5 TH3 + + and (Do 005CR040P_ + 0.75% COC03 in fields up to 26 kV/cm and at stresses tip to 25 kr, cm2. Tito strain gauge employed in the static measurements had a sensitivity of 10-6 cm/9calo division. The specimens wore poled for 1 hour at 1400C in a 20 W/cm field. The deformation hysteresis loop3 of the unpolarizod materials, recorded in cyclicly varying electric fields, wore symmetric and had sharp minins, the positions of which depended on the saximin strength of the electric field. The corresponding hysteresis loops of the card ACC NRv A M-O28127 polarized materials were asymmotr1c; the m1nLma were shifted In the direction opposite to that of the polarizing field and the deformation maxima were greater when the app- lied field was In the direction orf the polarization. A tendency to saturation was evinced at the deformation maxima. The deformation in the direction of the app2ted-- field wns greater than- that- in -the -porpundIculk-r direction by a factor 3 for the 'barium titanato base material and by a factor 4 for the load titanate-zirconate base materiol. Piezoelectric taoduli were measured both statically and by the resonance - antiresonance method. Lower values were obtained for the modulus d3l when It was measured dynAmleal2y than when it wa;moasurc?d under static conditions. The magnitudes of the static piezoelectric moduli dependod on the sign of the doformation during measurement. Dielectric constants were measured under the same conditions as were the piezoelectric moduli. Tito ratio of the modulus to the dielectric constant was found to be much less sensitive to the conditions of measurement than modulus and the dielectric constant themselves; the ratio was the same whether measured statically or dynamically. The number of samploa per plot of soil was 6 to 8. The reaction with dy-phenylamine cannot be used for onions. The content of nitrate N varies in different parts of the DI-ants and at various periods of vegetation. In case of a defiai- ency of N in plants, the greatest quantity of N was found in the upper parts of ihe plants. There is a tendency ~or a higher content of N during the morning hours and a lo,.-,,er content du- ring the evening hours, In potato the content of N was found to be grater durint~-, the first half of July and a lower content towards tho end of the vegetation period. Nitrogen. fertilizers were absor- bed by the plants with gre~tter rapidity when applied before irrigation then after. The dyphenylamine me.- thod may be, utilized to avaluate the fertility of soils in relation to th0i., nitrate regime. Card 2/2 ----- -- - - - -- --- ---- -- --- - -- --- BALASHXV, L.L. - I.Y.
