It has been determined that all of the E. coli strains fre3hly isolated from pathological procea3es show a COn3iderable resistance to the bactericidal effect of the acid, in achlorhydric gastric fluids. This re313t- ance 13 lost after serial culture P853ag03 " returns only after inoculation into animals. Only a fraction (about one-half to one-third) of the freshly 'Isolated Shigella, Klebsiolla and Proteus strains possessed resistance similar 'to that of N. coli, The Salmonena strains examinedo however, became do- card 1/2 ACC N14 AP6001958 atroyed under acid conditions within minutes in achlorhydric gastric fluids, adjusted to pH 2p and intestinal fluids an well regardless of whether they ~ had been freshly isolated from patients or had undergone serial culture passages. The I'als Which underwent the latter olit' -ration %alked on their stunips 3 to 4 days postoperatively. Young rats of 3 to 4 wo-eks are compared with adult . speciniens ol more thati 2 nionths. In a (I v-st 8eries (A), muselet; and skin were firnil) sutured after amputation. III group B. only tile skin is sutured, but firmly. and lit groups C the skin alone is loosely sutured. These different types of muturing were applied to study the effect of tile pressure brought about by tile suture. None of tile high-amputalion rat8 showed chondrogene8is at tile stunip. in 60% of tile high-amputation rate, adult as well as young rats, there was chon- drogenesis. In a second series. which served as a control examination, low amputation was applied. and the limb sutured to the abdominal wall to prevent walking on thC 3tUti-p. There was no chondrogenesis at tile stump. In a last series, E ( 5 rats aged 12 days), amputation was carried out 2 mm. above the CO-N-T.- distal growing centre of the femur according to Lacroix. In 3, t1tere was no chon- drogenesis at all. in I slight chondeogenesis and in I chondrogenesis as describq'-~4 by Lacroix. The conclusion is reached that chondrogenesis at the end of the anipu- tation stump of the leg is due to external factors, such as pressure. In gi-tiul) U. the enchondral bone formation is explained by residual epiphyscal cartilage in the region of the stump. Fe, Mn,and Zn on the properties, of AL9 alloy. After quenching from SA50C and aging at 1600 ab does not change with an increase in the Cu content from 0.08 to 0.845o; the hardness increases insignificantly; 6 decreases from 5 to 21/6 upon an 0.08 to 0.35% increase in Cu con- tent, but does not change thereafter. The mechanical Properties of the specimens in the cast state are virtually identical with those obtaining after quenching. An increase in Fe coutent > 0.65% brings about a sharp decrease in 6 and (Tb which phenom- enon is explained by the separation of Fe silicide. By means of a method developed in an earlier paper (Atom- nays energiya, Y. 19p 126p 2,965) it is shown that it the midplane of the beam coincide with the midplAne of the chamber and the beam width is much larger than its thickness the nonequilibrium charge density occurring under the influence of the beamis owr field can be readi4 determined in terms of the chargep masep and linear density of the particles and the parameters of the chamber. This makes it possible to obtain an equation for the longitudinal component of the electric field and the conditions undo which instability sets in. The equations show that the higher-moment, oscillations become significant if the beam thickness is comparable with the height of the chamber and their influence increases alAo on approaching nonlinear resonance. Consequently the higher-moment oscillations can become dangerous in strong focusing systemse The Card uDe, 621.A.6o I n-~- L 07,40(,Q-67 A& ~-N-Ih---kOa63U~ ------ instability, can be eliminated by p-odwing ener(W iscatater wA nonlinearity in the osaillAtionsp tbAk "me u in the cue of the oscinations or the cwter or gmvity of the beas. Similar conditions were found in the adjacent Gafuriy region of the Bashkir ASSR. The flow started between 22 March and 5 Alril on the south slopes when there was still deep snow. It ended between 24 April and 7 May.* On the north slopes it began between 4 and 17 . April and ended between 29 April and 12 Uay. The period of flow was 33 days on the south and 25 days on the north slopes. Also the total amount and sugar content of the south-slope maple sap is hi her. The intensity of flow varies with the I t is highest during the first afternoon hours temperature. of fine weather. Sunny days and cold nights aro the most favorable condition. Sudden cold spellep fog and alternating cold and warm weather in daytime reduces the flow. The inten- Card 1/2 sity of the flow also depends on the advanced stage of the "Weeping" of Plants 26-58-5-42/57 opening of bude and leaves, and the presence of insects and butterflies. A wild sacharomycete was discovered in the sap under microscope. This explains why the sap turns &our and flocculates so soon. The EndQmyces vernalia bacterium causes a slimy coagulation.
