The Magnetic Field of Planets
the magnetic field of Mars can be estimated at
0.1-0.5 Oersted. b) Doctor L6szlo' Egyed has ad-
vanced a hypothesis on the Earth's core-being the
source of the magnetic field.. It is assumed that
the magnetic moment of the core is a result of the
great density of the/atoms comprising the core.
The strength of the7magnetic poles can be deter-
mined by the following equation of Egyed1s:

tic moment of the nucleons and me 1.6727x10 -

Member of the Physics Institute of Nagoya University, reported on
cosmic
radiation of exceptional intensityfYom theregion of W Orionis. The
change
of intensity amounted to 50% at the beginning of 1954, otherwise the
average was 15-20% (Diagram). There is a close connection between this
cosmic radiation and the brightness of this star. Murayama's
observations
leave several questions open3 The above-mentioned connection would
mean
that the particles emitted by the star move with light velocity. A
great
number of observations are to be made to solve this problem, extending
to irregularly variable stars of the Orionis type. Positive results of
these observations will clear up the origin of this cosmic radiation.
