TEXT: A method of producing bricks and ZrO 2 products of a
high thermo-
stability has been developad. It consists in using the cubic
and
monoolinio modification of molten Zr02 in a 1:1 ratio. The
cubic
modification of ZrO., stabilized by means of CaO, has been
found at
15000C to have a low stability which, however, is strongly
improved by
the addition of 50 ~6 of the monoolinio modification. The
thermal
expansion coefficient of the monoclinic modification of ZrO.
and its
mixtures with the cubic one is smaller than the thermal
expansion

coefficient of the oubio ZrO2 modification. Petrographic and
X-ray
analyses have shown that the cubic modification of ZrO 2'
stabilized by
means of CaO or MgO, is disturbed when heated at some length
to 12000C.
This disturbance has been found to be accompanied by a rise of
the
stability of products at 15000C. [Abstracter's note: Complete

ABSTRACT: This Author Certificate presents a do voltage stabilizer
of semi-
conductor devices (containing a regulating transistor) whose
emitter-collector
section is connected in series with the load and whose bane is
connected to an
I amplifier stage with common emitter. To improve the stabilization,
a relaxation
circuit consisting of a tunnel diode and an inductor is connected at
the stab:L-
lizer output (see Fig. 1). The relaxation eircuit*output is
connected through:'~~
an integrating circuit consisting of a diode and a capacitor to tho
transistor
base of tho*amplifier with the common emitter.

During the studies of the Neman River valley, conducted
in 1953 and 1954, )2 transverse profiles were plotted.
Their comparison showed that the first dynamic phase
of the channel's development expressed itself only in
its deep incision. During the second phase deep
erosion was accompanied by a lateral shift in the
channel, a fact proven by the presence of terraced

sections with a thin alluvial cover and a 10 to 30 slope
toward the
channel. During the third phase a horizontal lateral
displacement
occurred; this was the phase of renewed de osition,

and it has lett-rather wide terraces which are covered with
hori-
zontally stratified flood plain deposits. Continuous
shiftings of
free meanders took place over a wide flood plain during the
later
part of the third phase. In the section under study, the
Neman
River is divided into four sections with-unequal amounts of
incisicn,
which ddpend"uponr, the rblief'of thd intersected plateau.
An an-
alysis of the observations leads to the conclusion that
after its
genesis (discharge from glacial lakes), the valley was
frequently
rejuvenated by epeirogenic uplifts of the earthts crust.
Within the
region of the Baltic shelf, incisions have occurred five
times, and
the last one is active even now. The extent of lateral
channel
shifting has diminished over a period of time. This
indicates that
the Tifts occurred in separate movements of moderate speed,
and

that periods of tectonic inactivity were of short duration.
The
northern section of the Central Lithuanian Plain
experienced less
frequent but more intense uplifts. The longest period of
tran-
quiMity, which coincided with the end of Lithuania's
subarctic
climatic period, was accompanied by the formation of a 10-m
terrace.
Subsequent strong uplift belongs, apparently, to the time
of the
Joldia arctica Sea. Refined uplift occurred in the
Litorina.'litorea
period. A bibliography of seven titles is included. 5-n-t

Abstract : Describes a method for the study of physiological
processes, as
respiration, during muscular exertion, by utilizing a portable
radio transmitter attached to the subject, and a portable receiver
to be used by the researcher for recording the transmitted data
with the aid of a special kymograph. Graphs. No references.

ABSTRACT: The author presents an optimal method for the construction
of finite

starting with static
switching elements of the 'Wor" type. Both the princi 1e of the
method and its
practical application (i.e., the calculations involvX are discussed.

altered cracked gasoline carried out by Egloff and
others. 0. Voicu and F. Popescu, suggested the use
of long-chain alkyl-phenols, in this ease isooetyl
phenols, iscoetyl cresols and -dodecil pbLenols as
inhibitors with anti-oxidating effect for ther-

authors carried out laboratory experiments on the
inhibition of oxygen in-;gasolines. Gasolinez treated

TITLE: An analytical application of dibromoarsenazo Il.
The determination of thorium in the presence of rare
earth elements
.PERIODICAL: Zhurnal analitichaskoy Rhimiij v.18, no.1, 1963, 61-65
TEXT-. The results Lf an investigation of the applicability of
dibrom6arsonazo II for the photometric determination of thorium
indicated that it can be used'.6r this purpose in the presence of
rare earth elements which in IN hydrochloric acid do not interfere!
with the determination up to a ratio of ls5OOO. The sensitivity
of the determination in 0.05 jig/ml of thorium. Sulphates and
phosphates in quantities of up to 100 mg in 25 ml of the solution i
do not interfere with the determination. The reagent may also be
useful for the determination of some other elements, as*it 2+
produces sufficiently contrasting reactions with boron. UOD
vanadiumIV and rare earth elements (the colour formed and m;xim'UM
permissible acidity for the-individual elements is given). The
method of the synthesis of the reagent is outlined. There are
4 figures and 2 tables.
