ABSTRACT: This article is a report from the 4-day international
congress "Mikrohulla'mu Osszek6ttet6sek" (Micro-
wave Communications) organized by the Magyar Tu-
dom6-uyos Akad6mia MUszaki TudomAnyok Oszt&lya (De-
partment of Technical Sciences at the Hungarian Aea-
demy of Sciences) and the Hirad&stechnikai Tudom&-
nyos EgyesUlet (Scientific Telecommunications So-
ciety). Papers were read on the following subjects:
system analysis; microwave electronics-Smicrowave
circuits and antennas;25electronic uits. The
congress was opened by Academician G6za BoRna'r.

Csibi. of the~TKI, spoke on the crosstalk problems
of microwave frequency-modulated devices containing
a number of radio-frequency channels. P6ter R6na,
of the TKI, discusses the regularities of-11-nter-
modulation noise accumulating on transmission lines
having mbre than one reflection point. H. Sulanke
from Berlin, talked about the overshootfHg-,and the
acceleration time changps, of the time functions
fed into an 'In" number of quadripoles in tail eating
circuit. GTUrgy Pribelszky, of the TKI, gave an
account of the analysis of TV wave form distortion
in wide band, frequency-modulated networks. Doctor
Tibor Hoffmann, of the TKII discussed molecular am-
plifiers..xT Candidate P. Bechmann, fro675r-ague, alked

Gell6n, both of the TKI, cLescribed the Hungarian-
developed reflex-klyptronttsed in wide-band micro-
wave devices. Acade-m-f-c-1-an V.I. Siforov, from Mos-
cow, spoke on the information theory of variable
parameter channels. J&nos Erd6lyi and Gy?3rgy
Gell6n, both of the TKI, spoke on the vacuum-engin-
eering problems of traveling-wave tubes in micro-
wave transmission devices for wide-band TV programs
or several hundred speech channels. Tibor Berczeli,
of the TKI, described the final amplifier circuit of
a Hungarian-made microwave device which works in
4,000-magacycle frequency band. They also described
the optimum dimensioning of "helix" link circuits.
Tibor Horv&th and Anos Fint6r both of the TKI,

cussed the "Diversity" receiving systeiiin which the
antennas are placed at a substantial distance from
each other. His calculations provide a good foun-
,dation for the optimum arrangement of the antennas
and for determining the reception gain. Doctor
Ern6 Acs, of the TKI, described a new method for
measuring microwave power. Gy6rgy Almasay of the
TKI, spoke on the problems of measuring small stand-
ing-wave ratios. la Enzs6l and Khroly Oher,
both of the TKI, described the progress made in de-
veloping ferrite insulators based on the theory of
resonance. Tibor Peres, Jen5 Kassay and Szil9Lrd __
Mark6. all of the TKI, described the progress made
in developing ferrite insulators based on the theory
of field distortion. IvAn Sehmideg, of the BHG,
discussed the advantages of narrow impulses in im-
pulse-modulated microwave multi-channel devices

examples the line tion possibilities of wide
band amplifiers, having no negative feed-back.
Tam!Ls Sarkbaq discussed the qualities required of
modern frequency modulators . Mikl6s Herpy, of the
TKI, apoke on the automationiand rem te-control sy-
stems in Hungarian--ga Rew~ide-band microwave devices.
A.D. Fortushenko, from Moscow, spoke on the progress
made 1-n-Me Soviet Union in the field of microwave
communications.6b Gydrgy Reiter, of the TXT, spoke
on high-level microwave frequency changers. Istva'n

eliminating mode-interferences in wide-band micro-
wave oscillators. The congress was closed by Aca-
demician G6za BogngLr, who stated that a second con-
gress will be held between 29 May and 1 June 1962.
