A fatal case of pancytopenia developed in the 5th
week of a virus hepatitis. There
were auto-antibodies against red cells. white cells
and platelets In the blood,
which were partly heterophil in character. It Is
suspected that the sensitization
did not arise from the virus of hepatitis but from
autolysed liver substance reach-
ing the blood stream. A similar mechanism may have
acted in the severe myo-
carditts which occurred at the same time.
