Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary] After a report on the survey of
medical literature, the authors describe 24 cases of W.P.W. syndrome which
have been followed by them for several years. The frequency of the syndrome
is 1.15 per cent among the oatient material available to the authors. Two-
thirds of the patients are ~oys, the youngest 3 1/2 years old. Eleven of
the patients w~'ewithout symptoms. Eight patients had organic heart defects
(congenital or ca~ditis), in one of the cases the disease developed and
later became chronic after scarlet-fever carditis, in another case, a child
with~combined heart defects, the syndrome manifested itself periodically,
a few days before death. Autopsy was performed on this patient. Paroxym~al
tachycardia occurred in 4 cases. The effect of stress, atropine, hype~wen.
tillation, carotid-sinus compression, the Valsalva test, and the ocular
reflex on the EKG Eraoh of patients w~th W.P.W. syndrome has been investigated.
Neurological and EEG {ests were made to study the role of the nervous system

in the disease. Based on the armlysis of the a%milable material it is con-
cluded that W.P.W. syndrome is not merely an esthetic error on the EKG, but
an etiological explanation is necessary for each case. Cases which are ac-
companied by organic heart defects should be treated in accordance with the
underlying disease, while the other cases require individual evaluation.

TEXT~ Reference is made to the fact that grafting of side chains and
thus modification of polymers is possible by formation o~ macroradicals.
Such macro~adicals may be �ormed by decomposition of neroxides �ormed

purified by repeated precipitation from an alcohol and isooctane solution
