Preparation of a Bimetallic Offset Plate of Chemically
Copper- plated Aluminum
The plate is wiped dry and washed with ethyl alcohol. The
bimetallic plate thus
obtained yields runs of > 150, 000 impressions instead of the
25, 000-40, 000 im-
pressions without copper plating. The plate is covered with a
101o shellac var-
nish and ink is rubbed in. The authors have also developed a
solution of chemical
copper plating substituting ethyl alcohol for isopropyl
alcohol. The composition
of the solution then is as follows:
CZH50H 1000 cc, CuZCIZ 20 g, and HCI (28.5%) 25 cc.
