Abstract Studies were nade of gas exchange (GE) in horses in day-
light and eleetric light (in ooze of the experiments, red
and green filtera.vere used over the eyes), and also in
darkness* In electrio light and in darkness, the GE was
lower than in daylight. Red light elicited an increase in
GH; arson light raised the GE only in horses with low
base 3-evelm of GN; in those with high base levels of GE~
arson light reduced GE. The stinulating influence on GE
of red arA green light was much reduced and occasionally
