M.; Korsakov, Libinshby&~. L. V.; Sarkisyants, R. A. TITLE: Industrial production of alkylphanol, additives utilizing the KU-2 cation exchange resin SOURCE: 1(himiya i tekhnol. topliv i masel, no. 3, 1964, 27-~l TOPIC TACS: alkylphenol, oil additive, cationate. benzene sulfonic acid, alkylphenol addicive, oil, petroleum, lubricant, engine oil. motor oil ABSTRACT: The purpose of this work is to find a better substitute for benzene sulfonic acid as a catalyst for the alkylation of phenol. This work was done at the Moskovskiy institut neftekhimicheskogo (Moscow Institu;e of Petro-chemical and Gas Industry) under the direction of Prof. V. 1. Isagulyants. 'Phenol was alkylated by olefins in the presence of 0-2 cation exchange resin which is a sulfo::a-ad copolymer of styrene and divinylbenzene having a functional SO is a 3H 7z-~ heterogeneous catalyst which, unlike benzene sulfonic acid (BSA), -Z *-,Ui;e .washing of the product, there being no phenol contamination of wash. the -Card' 1/2 ACCESSION NR: AM017573 alkylate is neutral with practically no dialltylPhenDIS formed. The operation can be fully automated. KU-2 operates for a Long time without losing activity and is regenerated by washing in polymerized olefins. The preparation of KU-2 for processing, as well as the manufacturing of phenol alkyLate, its sulfonatioa (SZC1-)).and saponification with Ba(OH)2, are described. The oil additive product using 0-2 is considerably superior to that prepared with the aid of BSA as catalyst because of the absence of dialkyl phenols, easier sulfonation and saponification, and no sulfur residues. Budapest,'Magyar Allatorvosok Lapla, Vol 18, No 9. Sept 63, pages 373-374. Abstract: [Author's English summary modified] A comparative study has been made to determine the value of Trypan blue, Trypaflavine, Todorit, Neotodorit, Acaprine and Berenil in the treatment of cattle piroplasmoses. Berenil Hoechst, containing diamino-diazoaminobenzol, was found to be the most effective among the drugs tested. The investigations also confirmed previous findings that, in addition to Babesia divergens (vector: Ixodes ricinus), Piroplasma, bi- geminus (vector. Hemaphysalis punctata) is also present in Hungary. 5 Western, 2 Hungarian references. 1/1 HUNGARY BEMA.~r~tur Dr, retired veterinary, Dregelypalank, [affiliations not given]..
