Ponomareva, Engineer PURPOSE: This book is intended as a manual for engineers, tech- .nicians, and mechanics handling or overhauling gas engines. COVERAGE: The electric equipment components of gas piston engines, gas turbine engines, and of gas-engine-driven compressors are described. Major ignition, protection and control devices including signal transmitting systems, low and high voltage magnetos which feed the electric system of gas engines, batteries Card 1/5 Electric Equipment of Gas Engines (Cont.) SOV/1730 and the chemical process in charging and discharging, spark plugs, induction coils, pyrometric units of gas engines, their operation, handling and overhauling are also dealt with in de- tail. The authors state t~;t in view of the rapid development of the gas industry, the importance of using gas as the fuel for internal combustion engines is growing, and gas engines as well as powerful compre3sors driven by gas engines are being widely used in the Soviet petroleum, chemical and metallurgical industry. The authors utilized the practical experience gained in the operation of gas-angine-driven compressors and gas engines located in compressor stations of gas pipelines Sarat'ov - Moscow and Kiyev - Moscow. The text is accompanied by numerous graphs, designs and tables. There are 11 Soviet references. TITLE: Hamasite Ticks in Southeastern Kazakhstan (Gamazovyye kleshchi Yugo-Vostochnogo Kazakhstana) PERIODICAL: Tr. In-ta zool. AN KazSSA, 1956, Vol 5, PP 152-160 ABSTRACT: Specimens of hamasite ticks were obtained from rodents and birds in different regions of southeastern Kazakh- stan: in the Terskey Ala-Tau mountains, Bet-Pak-Dala, the Tau-Kum sand mass, the Dzhungarskiy Ala-;T4u foot- hills, the Ketmen' range, the Ala-Kull depression, the Kara-Tau foothills, the Central Kazakh upland, and the territory around Alma-Ata. From May to October 2367 tick specimens were collected from 22 species of anivis and from the nests of-fburkinds of host birds. Altogether, 35 species were found, belonging to nine genera Card 1/2 0 Hamasite Ticks in Southeastern Kazakhstan (Cont.) 14-57-6-12707 (Parastidae Ylacrochelidae, Laelaptidae, Haem Liponyssidae- I - ogamasidae Rhinonyssidae, Spihturnicidae and others). A table shows the distri- bution of tick types found on mammals and birds. The most Irevalent types on the rodents were. Laelaps multispinosus, Macrolaelaps. muris, Hirstionyssus ellobii, Eula-eTa-pskolpakovae, ____T eLjjU ellobii, Laelaps algericus, Myonyssus dubinini,; in nests o narrow-gk-ulled' field mice the author found Haemolaelaps glasgowi, Eulaelaps stabu:... laris, Haemogamasus mLndschuricus, Haemogamasus nidiformes and Parasitidae gen. sp. AllodermaFyssus sanguineus was found on the gray hamster and on the Mongolian creeper on the Central Kazakh upland. Card 2/2 A. Zemskaya BISLICKIp T.; KVICALOVA, E. PhAosen'sitive psoriasis. Zburnal prikladnoy khimii, 1959, Vol 32, Nr 5, pp 997-10C)4 (USSR) ABSTRACT: The production of hydrogen by means of converting carbon oxide by water steam is especially important for the utilization of natural gas as hydrogen source. The natural pressure of the gas can be em- ployed in this method to reduce the production cost. Industrial water gas with a ontent of 30-36% CO. 50-36% H2, 4-10% N2 *-CH4.- 5-8%CO2 and 3 g/J sulfur compounds was used in the experiments. The catalyzation column was loaded by an industrial high-temperature catalyst containing 30% Fe 0 2.5% Cr 0 61% MgO, 1% K20 and 1.5% in th 2 Al 0 For comparing the K~a' e r _&nt work with those puglls'hed in theIliterature /R-efs 3,y4the method used by Atwood and coworkers was used fRef ~f For the description of the kinetics of the process, however, a new equation had to be derived. It has been shown that a sharp rise of the productivity is observed at an Card 1/2 increase of the pressure to 5-10 atm. At higher pressure the pro- SOV/80-32-5-12,/52 The,Investigation.of the Conversion of Carbon Oxide by Water Steam at Increased Pressure ductivity rises more uniformly. TITLE: Growing single crystals from solution by lowering temperature SOURGEr Cheracky prumysl, no. 10, 1964, 507-510 TOPIC TAGS: single crystal growth, Saturated solution, crystal nucleus, crystallization center, growth rate, alum, rochelle salt, sodiu;T nitrate aVRACT: This article describes the principal factors affecting the growing of al single crystals (principally ADP, Di,"I'j EDT., TrS,'-,%GFB, SHA, and N '03 crystals, Rochelle salts, and various alim) by lowering temperature, and reports on tho study of the effect of preparing the solution before the growing, cycle. A calcu- lation method is described for the programmed lowering of temperature during the crystal growth cycle. The parameters directly affecting the width of the MoLa- stable zone are studied and their estimation is made from the point of view vf the requirements of the technolo&v of growing single crystals from solution. The present method for calculating the speed of "Ienporature lowering during the grow- ing cycle is de5oribed on this basis. Up to the present, temperature dropp which Card V3 L 23086-65 ACCESSIM KR: AP4047665 has the greatest influence on the economy of the process, was controlled on the basis of empirical observations made by the personnel and technicians growing the crystals. The effect of the presence of a nucleus on the width of the meta- stable zone of potassimm tartrate DKT with and without mixing was investigated. Crystallization was carried out in laboratory crystal-pans, the Mi-N-or 'with the nucleus rotated at a speed of 10 - 150 rpm, and the direction of rotation changed every 1 - 2 minutes of operation. The calculation of temperature lowering JLn. growing Rochelle salt single crystals in Given as a sample solution. The length of the growing cycle is decisive from the point of view of economy, in con-parlson with which the t-ime required for preparation operations is negligible. For this reason it is necessary to ensure a solution of maximum concentration by maintain- ing the maximum temperature during beating. The growing cycle Itself musL pro- ceed near the upper litAt of tho metastable zone to ensure growth without de- fects. Maintaining a constant linear growth rate ensures milnimum criptalliza- tion time. it is also necessary to maintain a precively calculatod temperature regime. As an example,, the calculation of a nomogram of the temperature regime for the whole growtvii cycle is illustrated. Nomograms are also divon. for OP, TGSp Rochelle zalts, and sodium nitrate, and the correctness of the nomogranas Card 213 L 23o86-65 ACCESS1101-1 MR: AP40,47665 were veri fied under laboratiory and production conditions.
