i'TITLE Luminescent Substances for Colored Television on the
basis of
ZnS a ZnSe.
PERIODICAL turn.techn.fis,26, faso.12t 2784-2785 (1956)
Issued: 1 / 1.5?
In the works by GRIGORJEV and in one by the authoressee the
possibility was
pointed out of using the luminescent substances ZnS a ZnSe for a
number of
industrial purposes. The method of producing these substances is
simple and
reliable. In the course of this work the authoresses describe
their investiga-
fo
tion of these substances as~their applicability for colored
television. The com-
position of the green and red layers of the luminophores is
given as well as the
reaction when forming the luminophores: ZnS + SeO 2-+ ZnS . ZnSe
+ SO 2' The
ratio of the components of the re..-d and green luminophore
layers was empirically
selected. Hardening of the luminophores was carried out in the
air for one hour
at 9000 0. The temperature and the flux chosen warranted a
production of powders
with a very close granulometrio composition. Samples of blue,
red, and green
luminescent luminophores were obtained. The experiment showed
that the lumine-
scent color of the luminophores is of sufficient stability in
the case of a
sufficiently great modification of the state of excitation
(anode voltage of
from 15 to 20 kV and current density of the beam 0.1 dtL-A.cm-2
- 4 dA.CM-2).
An important property of the luminophores for colored television
is the stabil-

the cinescope.

heat treatment. Two

colored lumino-
phores and the dependence of brightness on the density of the
current. The

hours of operation. and at an anode voltage of 15 kV and a

ABSTRAM The report deals with cathodoluminophores ZnS.ZnS*.
The first part of the report describes the results of studying
the spectral composition of emission of the luminophores ZnS.
ZnSej AnS.ZnSe-Ag and ZnS.ZnSe-Cu excited by cathode rays
at a voltage of 3 to 20 kv and a density of beam current on
the screen of 0.5 to 100?A/sq'om. It was discovered that
cathodolumineseetce spectra of ZnS.ZnSe-(Zn, Ag, Cu) strongly
depended both on the content of zinc selenide and excitation
conditions. In most bases, the spectra of these cathodolu-
minophores had an additional band either explicitly outlined
or maniftsted in a distortion of the main band.

the afterglow of ZnS.ZaSe luminophores excited by a defocused
electronic beam, It was found out that the process of after-
glow in ZnS.ZnSe luminophorea containing Zn,Ag, or Cu as ac-
tivators was described by a hyperbola in the region of
bright-
neas variations from 0-5 to 20 % of the brightness at the and
of the excitation.
The third part of the report cites the results of studying
the
light-output and luminosity of screens ma4e of luminophores
ZnS.ZnSe; ZnS.ZnSe-Agq and ZnS.ZnSe-Cu at various regimes of
electronic excitation.
On the basis-of obtained experimental data a conclusion has
been drawn that luminophores of the ZnS.ZnSe type 'can be
use-
fully applied for a number of industrial purposes.

ABSTRACT: The isomer discussed has the methyl and the alkQxymethvl
groups in
positions 2 and 4 interchanged. In some methods of synthesis it is
important to
obtain separation of the isomers and therefore the author presents
an analytical
method by means of which the relative content of the isomers may be
determined.
The method is based on spectkographic differentiation of the
substances in-methanol

Abstract: The organization and work of a test station (TS) for the
testing of methods for the determination of small con-

The TS is a modification of the station proposed by Uron
and Boggs (Anal. Chem., 1951, Vo123, 1517). The gas to
be tested is introduced continuously Into a stream of air
