T=s Mechanization and automation of spinning work PERIODICAL: Kuznechno-shtampovochnoye proizvodstvo, no. 2, 1961, 6 - 8 MXTs The authors have designed and tested a new special device for m6chanioal spinning, i.e. shaping parts from sheet metal on a rotating mandrel. by a spinning tool exiiting pressure from outside. The process is stated to be used in the USSR and abrogd. The usually manual spinning of small-iize work is slow und causes physical strain which might result-in professional diseases. ~he described device has a spinning power head producing a pressure of 1,600 kg. 7 It consists of two cylinders joined by hinges and a bar into a triangle. The tool Is attached to the power cylinder. The flat bar is designed for holding in the lathe tool holder, and may be replaced by a differently shaped one for attaching the power head in a spinning lathe. The dimensions of the power cy- l1nder and of the feed cylinder are to be selected to produce the required stress at the available hydraulic pressure. The head Is actuated by a handle, and the operator senses the working stress through the handle, Remote control from a Card 1/2 S/182/61/000/002/002/009 Meahanization and automation of spinning work A161/A133 push"u,tton panel is poasible. The feed and control system can be switched over to -Orogram control, provided the first workpiece had been produced by a high- akilled operator (i.e. the first- pieoe can be used as programming templet for fur,Kvier work). The control is effected by electromagnetic tapes and a control- led-flow piston pump. The control signals-are transmitted from a command de- vice to The electromagnet windings and a position tie rod of the inclined vaeher of the piston pump. The control system is now under development and is being -Cested. The device can be used on any lathe -or any spinning'lathe, speeds up the spinning process 3 - 4 times, ind makes the use of special 5P53 (ZR53) ,or Tr55-(TT53,N spnning lathes unnecessary. S/136/61/ooo/004/001/006 E021/9135 AUTHOR: TITLE: The Use of Alternating Current for the Treatment of the Cathode Material in the Electrolytic Refining of Nickel PERIODICAL; Tsvetnyye metally, 1961, No. 1 1 pp. 25-28 TEXT: A method for improving the quality of the cathode metal was developed and introduced into the electrolytic plant of the "Yuzhuralnikel" kombinat in April 1959 (Ref.1). It is well known that superiMDOSing an alternating current on the direct current gives a cath-ode material of higher quality (Refs. 2-4). but the use of an alternating current in this way is accompanied by many difficulties. Studies on the "Yuzhuralnikel" kombinat showed that a marked improvement in the quality of the cathode precipitate could be obtained by using direct current for the electrolysis but carrying out a preliminary treatment on the cathode material. This consists of a short treatment with alternating current of industrial frequency. This method has some advantages and, in particular, eliminates the stratification normally obtained by the use of an alternating current superimposed on the direct current Card 1/4 S/136/61/000/004/001/006 E02l/El35 The Use of Alternating Current for the Treatment of the Cathode Material in the Electrolytic Refining of Nickel during electrolysis. Fig.1 shows the section of a cathode at X 100 magnification (a - untreated based b - a.c. treated base). It can be seen that the preliminary treatment gives a better joint between the cathode base and the precipitate. This is because the -surrace of the cathode is activated by the treatment. Recrystallization takes place. The recrystallization and refinement of the surface layer also explains the decrease in dendrite formation during electrolysis; Fig.2 shows a photograph of the edge of the cathode (a - treated base) b - untreated base), DK = 200 A/ m2 without screening. The method employed consists of applying an alternating current between two cathodes in an ordinary electrolytic bath. A 20-30 volts transformer is usedg and the current is calculated so that the current density is equal to that used in the direct current electrolytic bath. The current is applied for 5-10 minutesq and the prepared.cathodes are then transferred to the electrolytic bath without washing. The use of the pro .posed method also gives a higher output per unit current. In this manner, bimetallic 400-mm long tube shells with an outside diameter of 83 mm and a wall thickness of 22 mm (thickness of cladding about 10 mm) were produced. The adhesion of the cladding layer to the base metal was found to be'~ sufficiently strong. An interlayer was formed between the base metal and the SIgIding. It had a cast structure of iron-base alloy containing 5% mixed and 10% chromium. This interlayer had a microhardness of 4.4 gn/m2. The microbardness dropped sharply in both directions. From the bimetallic shells, 45 x 3.5 mm tubes were Card 1 /9 TTnr. A91 774 r L 07456-67 ACC NRt AP6035203 produced by hot extrusion. The tubes had a tensile strength of 539 Ma/m2, a yield strength of 274 Wm2, and an elongation of 40-50%. Because of their high ductility, the tubes could be cold rolled or cold drawn without heat treatment,. Orig. art. has: 4 figures. PANICHUAD A.A.; BOB_ . - VK6 'Simplified method of dyeing wool fiber. (Collection of articles on Automation and Electrical Engineering), Moscow, AS.USSR, 1956, pp 63-79 ABSTRACT: This article examines amplidyne-type followup systems intended for reproducing angular movements. Equations are developed which describe an actuating electric motor, an electronic amplifier, afi amplidyne with a flexible or a rigid feedback, and the entire followup system. An evaluation of stability is made, and the inference drawn that for stable operation of 'the system, the feedback-filter parameters should be so proportioned that the filter transfer factor, at the frequency corresponding to the point on the negiLtive real axis through which the amplitude-phase curve of the system passes, would be almost equal to unity. System parameters and feedback factors are assumed to -have - such values that, if the filter transfer factor is equal to unity at any frequency, Card 1 /Z 112-57-8-16945 Electric Followup Systems With Amplidynes the system is sufficiently stable.' This difference is attributed,to the fact that the phase transition! tin the investigated solid solution does not occur at a clearly defined temperaturet~ band that the fluctuations of the composition or microinhomogeneities cawe differen microscopic regions of the crystal to have different Curie temperatures. Another possible cause of the anomaly in the Mossbauer effect is the fact that the mass of 'the impurity (Sn) exceeds by zore~ than two times the was of the host (Ti). ."The authors thank 14 Ygg~jp and G*:A* Sm a.for interest in the work and 1. Instruction covering the use of this bacteriological method was approved on April 25, 1953 by the chief of the Veterinary Administration, Main Adminis- tration of Animal Husbandry, Ministry of Agriculture, USSR. Many veterinary bacteriological laboratories and experimental stations have been preparing Isachenko and Merezhkovskiy cultures of bacteria for use against rodent pests. Possibility exists for utilization of solid vegetable culture medium'-from rye)* wheat, and buckwheat groats, oatmeal, and pearl-barley in preparing bacterial cultures for use in deratization.
