The authors examined the condition of the organs of hearing and equilibrium in 19
patients suffering from retinttis pigmentosa. In all patients the threshold curve of
hearing was determined audiometrically, and in the cases of hearing Impairment
supraliminal tests were performed as well. In every case the excitability of the
vestibular organ to caloric stimulus was examined. and radiograms at the mastoid
processes and paranasal sinuses were made, 'In 12 of the 19 cases examined, a
perceptive Impairment of hearing (from minimal to almost deafness) was found. In
11 patients the lesions were symmetrical In both earn, and In I a unilateral
hypacusts was noted. In only I case was excitability of the labyrinths to the calorte
test absent. The results of supraliminal tests indicated that in 4 cases the lesions
were limited to the organ of Corti; in the remaining cases they also involved other
parts of the organ of hearing. On the basis of theme investigations the opinion is
ventured that Impairment of hearing combined with retinitin Rigmento2a Is probably
hereditary, of a recessive type, with features of ablotrophy, and has the properties,
of labyrinthosts similar to the lesions found In presbycusts. (XI. 12)

ABSTRACT-. In analyses by secondary spectra the application of the sample
to the specially prepared anode of the X-ray tube by "rubbing-
in" shows great difficulties. In the present case a method has
been worked out by which the sample is glued to the anode sur-
face by means of a 40% dextrin solution. Thus the necessary
amount of the sample can. be reduced to 5-10 mg, the duration
of the analysis shortened by 3-4 times and the accuracy of the
determination increased (Table). The tests were carried out on
a spectrometer of the type logann which had been made in the
ekeperimentallin~W masterskiye Rostovskogo universiteta(Experi-
mental Workshop of the Rostov University). The tube potential

During mass examinations for carriers carried out in the province of L6df in May
1953. infection caused by S. heidelberg was discovered. From May 1953 to March
1955, 123 cases were detected, of whom only 9 exhibited symptoms of disease. The
patients suffered from diarrhoea, and in more severe cases there were symptoms
of typhoid. The cases were scattered in various districts of the province, and itwas
not possible to trace any connection between the individuals. The source of infection
was probably iderior meat and sausages made of edible offal. (XVII, 20)

The maximum opening is 770 mm. The installed power is
75 kv. The anvil weight is 12 tons and the remainder
weighs 26 tons. The machine requires no outside
compressed air services. The forging can be held

ABSTRACT: The author proposes using the phase-plane method for the analysis of transient
pr6cesses in a series-connected thermistor-linear resistor circuit. It Is pointed out that the
ph4se trajectory of the process may under given conditions be plotted as a function of the phase
-tf ajectory level of the thermistorized elementary circuit if the temperatures T of the ther-
mfptor are arbitrarily specified and the corresponding value's of dT/dt calculated. The point
of intersection of the phase trajectory with the abscissa (0 T) determines the equilibrium point
and makes it possible to establish the values of the steady-state temperature of the thermistor
and its resistor. It Is shown that, regardless of the ambient temperature, heat releasei supply

voltage and linear resistance, it is possible to determine the phase trajectory of a transient
process in a circuit with a given thermistor by means of comparatively simple recalculations
and coordinate or scale conversions rather than by means of reconstructing this trajectory. The
curves of the time dependence of thermistor resistance, circuit current and thermistor voltage
