Measured results for characteristic viscosity and flow (according to ASTMD i238-56T) are examined in detail. On the basis*of the data obtained, polyethylene mixtures with vairying properties were tested with a view to processing by extrusion, pressure molding and compacting. Use was rmde of BC powder containing 1,0% C, ferrosili- con containing 42.7% and M, Si and silicon containing 98.6% Si, 1.4% Fe and 0.02% C. Grain size _~_O.10 mm. Mixtures of powders containing 75-90% BC where' mixed in a vibration mill for 24 hours, compressed under a pres- sure of 125 kgjlcm~ and altured. at 13oo-14ooO.
