Abstract; The resistance to streptomycin, chlororqcatin, terramycin,
tetracycline,, aureomycin, neozydn, penicillin and e.rythrwu7cin was deter-
mined in 200 strains isolated from swine infected with edema, colibacillosis
or a mixed form of these diseases. Five serotypes were tested. No relation-
ship between the antibiotic pattern, serotype and disease was found. A
hiOn percentage of E. coli strains was resistant to at least 5 antibiotics.

TITLE: The HB-PG-62 dynamic deflectometer for testing the carrying capacity of
flexible pavements

ABSTRACT: This article discusses.the dynamic method of estimating the carrying
capacity of flexible pavements, based on an analysis of pavement oscillations
i resulting from the application of short-time single force pulses to the pavement
under test. The HB-PG/62 dynamic deflectometer, designed by this author in 1962

dynamic deflectometer consists of a transmitter of force pulses and a recorder of
the pavement oscillations. The transmitter is provided with 3 interchangeable
falling weights of 6, 10, and 20 kg and their free fall height can be varied from
0.1 to 1.7 m. Oscillograms showing the shape of the force pulses obtained are
given. The maximum obtainable dynamic force is 3000 kg. The transmitter para-

ly on the test surface. The principle of operation of the vibrograph is given
and the accuracy measurements arediscussed. It is shown that the modulus of

and the statistical approach to the atmospheric turbulence and diffusic
has been presented and criticized. On the basis of the similarity
theory, a new equation has been obtained for the wind profile in a

TITLE-: Computation of stress in an open cylindrical shell
under the action of centrifugal force

TEXT: The problem of discontinuous stresses 3.s solved
an open cylindrical .shell consisting-of two cylindrical shells of
revolution with diffqrent radii of curvature, loaded by centrifugal
force. Shells of this type are used for blades in radial pumps,
compresso*rs and blowers. Simplified equations of Donnell, Vlasov
and FlUgge are reduced to one equation-by means of a complex func-
tion and integrated by Levy's method. Integration constants are
found from the boundary'conditions'and a scheme is given for trans-
formation of coefficients and consequent use of the formulas for
both shells. Analysis of.three numerical examples shows that larg-
est stresses occur along the edge farthest from the axis of revolu-
tion, and for some materials, approach the critical values. For an

shoi~m to be sufficient. Sufficient approximation is obtained when
the first two terms are taken in the series for internal forces.
Finally, a still simpler method is indicated forthe computation

and Vlasov in the theory of circular cylindrical shella

TEXT: The author compares the basic differential sets of equations
derived by W. Flugge (Ref. 1: Statik und Dynamik der Schalen (Statics and
Dynamics of Shells), Springer, Berlin-1934) and V~ Z. Vlasov (Ref. 2:
Obshchaya teoriya obolochek i yeye prilozheniya v tekhike (General Theory
of Shells and Its Technical Application), Gos. Izd. Tekh~ Teor. Lit..
Moskva-Leningrad, 1949) for the circular cylindrical shell in order 'to find
the similarity between these two sets of equations. The comparison is ac-
complished by analyzing the terms of each of the equations for Vlasov2s
and Flu"gge's expressions by considering the deformed elemental prism of the
shell and interpreting the notations in each case. The notation of Vlaso-
is then adopted and Fldgge's equations are expressed in terms of the operas
