ABSTRACT: A new semiautomatic hydraulic machineL-the TGS-60fl--used for cold bending
of tubes with outer diameters up to 60 mm is described. The general layout, operating!
characteristics and schematic drawings of principal sections of the machine were pro-
sented. The machine includes such features as a programmed autornatic stop and iu_l all-
gle measuring device for determining the bend angle relative to the horizontal plane.
The operating parameters of the TGS-60M are given as follows: niaximum tube bend radi-i
us--300 mm, maximum bend angle--2000, maximum speed of bendiiig--3 rpm, maximum, torque
on the main drum--2500 kg/m, puiip capacity--l.00 I/min, oil reservoir capacity--590 1,
bulk machine dimension--5000 x 1360 x 1360 and weight--11400 kg-. Scheinatic drawings
of the hydraulic assembly which drives the machine and of the automatic stop device
are shown. The semiautomatic cycle of the TGS-6014 begins when -the -tube is clamped be-LI
tween a bending and a clamping die--the clamping die closely matching up with the

tube dimensions. The clamped tube is next bent by a rotating die; at the moment the
bending die forms the required angle, its rotation is automatically stopped while the
mandrel is pulled from -the bent zone and the tube removed. The yearly saving from
the use of a single TGS-60M machine is estimated at 2100 rubles. The machine is re-
commended for use in shipbuilding, chemical machine building, and the automotive in-
dustry. Orig. art. has: 3 figures, 1 table.

TITLE: Problems of Determination of the Carrying Power of Steal Structures
Subjected to Corrosion (Voprosy opredeleniya nesushchey sposobnosti
stallnykh konstruktsiy~ podvergshikhaya korrozii)
FERIODICALt Inzhenerno-fizicheskiy zhurnal, 1959, Nr 5z PP 97-103 (USSR)
ABSTRAM The paper presents data on the rate of corrosion of steels of the
St3 and NL-2 grades under various conditions of surrounding media.
Studying the effect of corrosion in Soviet structures, the author
confirms K~ Larrebiis Z Ref 22 conclusions that, beginning with 2
to 3 years, the rate of corrosion is approximately constant, and
the depth of corroded surface of a structure car, be calculated as
a product of the rate of corrosion by the number of service years~
On the basis of this conclusionj it is possible to determine the
corrosion effect on the cross-sections of strustural elements and,
corre~pondingly~ the carrying power of them. The author gives
formulae for determination of the coefficient of corrozion re-
sistance for various profiles of structural steel and tubea~ de-
fined as the ratio of the effective cross-section (upon making an

cross-section. The author shows that the ratio Kl -- of the
t W
corresponding moments of resistance ofthose profiles is approxi-
mately equal to the ratio of the cross-sections K The
author further describes a method by means of which this coeffi-
cient can be determined in a simple experiment.

technical maintainance and repair of radar equipment are discussed. Factors
influencing the reliability of radar operation under field canditions are given.
ITe adjustwnt and control of various radar circuits and the radar system as a
whole are described. Principles of predicting reliability of conplex systens and
individual conponents are discussed. Practical reconrondations for predicting the

formed at different dosage rates. increasing the CO content of the initial mix-
ture results in increase in the copolymerization process rate, in the radiochemi-
cal consumption and in the melting point of ttie copolymer formed. The melting
point of a copolymer formed witn little CO in the initial mixture is lower than
that of polyethylene synthesized under tne same conditions. By increasing initial
total concentration of monomers, the copolymerization rate, melting point and
molecular mass of the product is increased and the degree of orderliness in the
copolymer is soiSewhat decreased.' Within the range studied, the process rate
is greatest in tne 70-120C idterval. The copolymers formed at 25-95C are sim-
ilar to each otner (line white powder melting at about 170C, having a high degree'
of orderliness, and insolubie in chloroform at room temperature). They differ
from the copolymers formed at 120C (yellow crystalline material, melting 130-
140C, readily solubie up to 15% in chloroform). The copolymel~ formed at 215C
is a brown viscous liquid. Copolymers formed in the presence of benzene are
also different: they are higher melting (185-195C) white powders, insoluble in
pyridine. and have a slower reaction rate with hydroxylamine. The values for

ABSTRACT: As a continuation of 'work on the structure and thermal conversion of
copolymers of ethylene and carbon monoxide fomed by cobalt-60 gas phase ga
irradiation (Ye. Ye. Braudo, A. 1. Dinstses, Neftekhimiya 4, No. 1, 6~, 1964) the
authors made an intensive study of the IR spectra of these copolymers synthesized
at different temperatures. Interpretation of,the IR spectra of copolyme3Zs synthe-t
sized at 70-120C indicated they have a polykatone structure. The copolymers
synthesized at 2150 have a more complex structure and different physical properties.
It was assumed'that the theimal conversion of the copolvmera is caused by crotonyl

electric conductivity of leas than 10-13-10-5 obm-J- cm-1 indicated an absence of
conjugated double bonds in the thermal condensation products, The reduced mobility
of the fragments of the molecUlax chain and inhibition ofthe condensation reaction
indicate the formation of a 6rose-linked structure. ' "The authors thank Yu. L.

ABSTRACT: The article discusses the work of Gennadiy Mikhaylovich
Khokhlov, assistant chief of the political department of
the Novosibirsk LERM. It states that "the most important
thing" is not to lose contact with-problems and interests
of workers. Comrade Khokhlov is praised for his talents and
understanding in handling and improving the personnel of the
LERM. Three stories illustrate comradeKhokhlov.'s abilities.
1. Foreman Mikhail Andreyev and technician Kudryavtsev were
reprimanded for misbehavior by the following mEmbers of the
Komsomol: comrade Chernenko, secretary of the Komsomol;
Vasiliy Artemchuk; Petr Nagornyy; Aleksancjr Syurkalov.
Through advice comrade Khokhlov helped them to become
better men. 2. Comrade Roman Lednev received help from
Khokhlov in becoming an aircraft mechanic, despite the

LERM, referred to as Anatoliy Stepanovich, (i.e. by
forename and patronymic only). 3. Vladimir Kim came to
the Novosibirsk LERM from Kazakhstan and through the In-
fluence of Khokhlov enjoyed good training in comrade
Viktor Senyutin's team (brigade). comrade Kim passed the
examination for technical maintenance of the engine and
airframe of the IL-12.

Activity in Complete Heart Block (Preliminary Report)
Orig Pub: Fiziol. norm. si patol., 1957, 4, No. 6, 544-553
Abstract; Six patients with complete block spirographic exami-
nation in the states of rest and over activity was
performed, The frequency of heart contractions In

and frequency of heart contractions. However, these
mechanisms do not always assure metabolic needs of
