ABSTRACT: This paper describes a Polish.patent for turbine blad2a (Ni. 48272,

stages set up for the least possible consumption of labor. The initial material
is a bar drawn from steel'or alloy of a hardness not exceeding 75 HD. The bar
is cut into sectors of proscribed moasuromonto (Fig. a) which are carefully press-
od. The sections are placed in a special box and into an oven for heating for
about 30 min at an optimum temperature for the given material. The hot sections
are pressed on a mechanical-press, forgo, etc., equipped with a suitably formed
bipartite tool and an automatic device for heating this tool. The blade lookin
pioco is formoa in tho tool (Fig. 1-b [1)),;.yot the cross aection (Fig. 1-b C 2]f
along the entire fin is the same and corresponds to the cross section at the bass
of the cozp~eted fin (Fig. 1-b [3)). 'The second stage of the operation in period-
ic rolling of the fin on a specially braced roller and application of the grooved
rolls. The~preasing and rolling is carried put At a constant and oven temperature
of about 400 C as in the case of the WD-17 1alloy (Fig. 1-c). In the rolling trac-
tion the fin obtains the required tapering and twist. On completion of the roll-
ine, the fin is trimmed (Fig. 1-d) and the locking piece is machined. Next, the
finished blade undergoes heat treatmenti pickling in an aqueous solution of
caustic soda, rising in water of a temperature of 90 C, brightening in an aqueous
solution of nitrous acid, and drying in a lot of hot air. To aareguard against
warping during the treatment, the blade is put through the rolling sill, for addi-
tional sizing. Orig. art. Ws 4 figures.

Title : The effect of gin-seng on the reactivity of an organism
Feriodical : Farm. i toks. 17, 27-30, Jul/Aug 54
Abstract : Experiments showed that subcutaneous injection of milk into rabbits
which had previously been administered extracts of gin-seng did not
cause fever or leukocytosis. Similar results were obtained in experi-
ments with turpentine. Single or multiple.injections of gin-seng, ad-
ministered prior to freezing the ears of rabbits, ]prevented the develop-
ment of as severe inflammations as appeared in control animals. The
inflammations which did appear in the treated animals caused hardly any
leukocytosis or loss of weight. Administration of gin-seng daily for 21
days prior to freezing, interrupted'2 days before freezing, proved to be
even more effective.in preventing inflammatory reactions. The experiments
are illustrated by two charts and three graphs. No references are cited..

Abstract: to three groups - prophylactic, therapeutic, and
control. With a dose of radiation approxitilating
the LD50, observations over a period of 30 days
revealed a marked prophylactic effect of G in re-
gard to survival and to duration of life of the
animals. The number of animals of the control
group dying in the course of the 30-day period
was 58.3%, and the average duration of life was
20.7 days; with prophylactic administration of G
these figures were respectively 41% and 24 days.
The injection of G following irradiation led to
aggravation of the course of radiation sickness
with a higher percentage of mortality (83,,3%) and
to a reduction in the duration of life (10.3 days).
