Title Increased Yields in the Synthesis of Butadiene from Ethyl
Alcohol with Magnesium Oxide Based Catalysts.

Abstract: In a laboratory unit a study was made of optimal conditons
of the synthesis of butadiene (1) from Co OH using a catalyst
(C) consisting of MgO, S102 and kaolin, wig Cr203 as activa-
tor. The yield of I was of 80~ under the following conditions:
MgO content 76-8o%,_Cr20 2 5% reaction temperature 4200., dur-
ation of contact 4.5 secLc~; (,corresponding to a space velocity
of 0.8 liter/hour of ethyl alcohol per 1 liter of C), and addi-

tion to the reaction nixture of 10f.by volume of C CHO.
To increase the operation cycle of the C up to 12-5 haws
there am added to the reaction mixture 5% of H20 which on
reacting with the cetbon deposited upon the C converts it
to C.0 and, H2. It is shown that incorporation in the C of
10% ZnO in lieu of MgO and. Cr2O~ (the latter is fully elimi -
nated) lowers the yield of -I to 32%; a partial or complete
rep3acement of Cr201 by Coa(h also lovers sbarply the yield
of 1. In the exper1mwtal_u&t with a 1 liter reactor, under
optInal conditions, the yield of I after 3, 6, and 9 hours
of operation of the C was, respecUively, 81%, 77.3% and 74.5%;
average yield of I after 12 hours 70-5%- Preliminary experi-
ments with eirculition of the C between reactor and regene-
ration vessel have shown that after 330 hours the C retains
its initial activity. Absorption of I in ethyl alcohol was

Equations for rods of high section are given, ta-hing
into account- I.- he shear deformations a-ad rotational inertia of the rod
elements in flc-.mral*vibrations. Simpler equations for 'thin' rods
neglecting the above quantities are also considered. The lountions
are formulated using the method of deformations (displacements).
Their use and the suitable arrangement of computations in their solu-
tion are shoxm, also the iteration method for many-storey frames with
vertical pillars and rigid joints. The author gives numerical exam-
ples of determination of the basic frequency of natural vibrations

a pigment anomaly characteristic of the Albright. syndrome, the bone lesions
were also accomjxtnied by naevus flammeus. The relationship between fibrous
osteodysplasia and the Albright syndromq and the diagnostic importance of
