TITLE: Electrical DC drive with a most favorably tuned regulator
SOURCE: Elek~.rotechnicky obzor, v. 55, no. 4, 1966, 177-182
TOPIC TAGS: analog computer, electronic circuit
ABSTRACT: The paper deals with the ap-
plication of an integral critorion of optimum adjustment to a
.DC drive with a-regulator consisting of URS elements. It is
:shown that this method gives satisfactory results even with
simple circuits.. Witli a few suitably selected feedbacks it is
possible to obtain good results even without taking into con-
sideration nonlinearities of the saturation type, as was found'
.by pomparing the result's.of measurements on an..analog computer
and on*an actual drive. This paper was presented by Engineer K. Mayer. Orig. art.

A study was made of 182 strains of S. typhosa isolated between 1952 and 1954: 128
were isolated by haemoculture. 52 by coproculture, 1 by biliculture and 1 by uro-
culture. The isolation, typifying and preservation of the cultures were effected
by the usual methods. The minimal bacteriostatic dose (m. b. d. ) was determined
in peptonic broth at pH 7. 6, with thymol bromine blue. Approximately 1.000
germs were inoculated, antibiotics being added in increasing amounts in geometri-
cal progression at a rate of 2. The results were evaluated after 18 hours' incuba-
tion at 370 C. Almost all the strains (99%) were sensitive to a concentrIation of
0.1-4 ;g./ml. of chloramphenicol, i. e. in the blood concentration obtained by usual
doses of the antibiotics (5-25pg./ml.). No differences were observed between germs
isolated from the same patient by haemoculture, coproculture, uroculture or bili-
culture, as regards the year of isolation of the germ, the bacteriophagic type,
between germs isolated in different pekiods of the disease, in the number of cases
of relapse due to the same type of germs. in patients previously treated with the
same antibiotic in insufficient doses. The study of 84 strains by means of nitro-
furan led to the same findings, the only difference being that the m. b. d. was be-
tween 7 and 8;Ag./ml. The effect of chlortetracycline on 70 strains was studied in
the same conditions of cultivation as well as in broth at pH 6.5-7, at 25-301 C.
In vitro. the germs presented sensitivity to concentrations between 1 and B;ig./ml.
The general conclusion is that forms of germs resistant to the antibiotics tested
were not demonstrated. Nadudvary - Cluj (XVU, 4)

Abstract: Upon prolonged cultivation (up to 15-20 days)
on a solid nutrient medium, 1+5 of 50 studied
strains of representative bacillus genuses
displayed an antagonistic activity toward
grampositive as well as gramnegative bacteria.

bacteria sometimes appeared in the nutrient

inhibiting gramnegative bacteria. In the
filtrates of culture liquids of the tested
strains, compounds were found which inhibit
only grampositive bacteria. -- V.A. Lyashenko
