ABSTRACT: An Author Certificate has been isc;ued for a diving suit. To ensure
indepetident disconnection of the jacket flange of the diving suit by the diver without
releasing the chest panel from the helmet, the chest-panel flange is made with
latches, in the form of clasps with projections fitted into the channel of the ring and
thus making a gap between the flanges of the helmet and the chest panel during separa-

ABSTRACT: The author compares the respective advantages of hydraulic
brakes and inductor brakes. He points out that designers
A.L. Biryukov, P.A. Ioganson and S.M. Kets devised an inductor
brake (Photo 2) that takes up a torsional moment of up to
13 kgm. A VSA-3 rectifier is used in connection with the
brake in the case of AC power supply. The design principle of
the VSA rectifiers permits a highly accurate load regulation.
The brake is water cooled. Graph 3 shows the reaction of the
inductor brake at various cu7rent values. The electric power
consumption is less then 1 kwt under any condition. The in-
ductor brake under discussion is able to brake a 550-HP engine
at 3,000 rev/min. Inductor brakes can operate at high re-
volution figures. There are designs for 30,000 to 40,000 rev/
min. Testing of the hydraulic transmission of the ZIL-111
automobile in the Moscow Car Plant imeni Likhachev showed
that for this type of test the most suitable inductor brake
is one which can develop a high braking moment at a low number

ing of electric motors, especially the larger ones. The above
discussed brake could be applied for braking electromotors of
50,85,125,200 and 400 kwt at 500,750,1,000, 1,500, and 3,000
rev/min respectively. Using inductor brakes, set-ups can be
established for testing the wear of engines, hydraulic trans-
missions and other automobile assemblies.

The Determination of the IRPM Number at Shafts of
Automotive Assemblies by Pulse Counters

ABSTRACT: For testing torque conve-tters.at the hydraulic trans-
mission laboratory of the Moscow Automobile Plant
imeni Likhachev, the rpm numbers of the driving and
the driven shafts were determined by means of pulse
counters SB-lm/50. The pulse counter system is
simple and may be used for testing various other
units. The figure 50 of the type dosignation in-
dicates the maximum number of pulses which may be
counted by the device within 1 second. Counters
SB-lm/100 will.count up to 100 pulses per second.
This corresponds to an rpm number of 3000 or 6000
respectively. For measuring the rpm number of the

converters, three pulse counters are used. Two of
these counters record the rpm of the respective
shafts while t~-;'a third one performs the function
of a stopwatch. All three counters are switched on
simultaneously. The third counter is operated by
power frequency of 50 cycles. Since the power fre-
quency is practically constant, the rpm number may
be easily calculated. Figure 1 shows the circuit
diagram of such a device. Figure 2 shows the ar-
rangement of the three counters on the instrument
panel of the machine dri-ving the hydraulic torque
converter. The pulses operating the rpm counters
of the shafts are provided by contact rings which
produce one pulse for each rotation. There is 1
circuit diagram and 1 photograph.

TEXT: Laboratory experiments were carried out on determining the conditions
of maximum Se separation in the process of Pb charge agglomeration without impair-
ing the qua!-*-,.y of agglomerate and other characteristics of the agglomeration pro-
cess. The'experiments were performed on an installation which provided for the
possibility of its operation both with the suction of air from above and with
blasting from below. When agglomerating granulated charge with circulation and
fluxes from -5 to +2 mm large, the optimun. air consumption both from the viewpoint

ABSTRACT: The paper describes a three-channel measuring amplifier for work
with wire resistance strain gages (PET-3-V) and adduces their charac-
teristics. The amplifier is fed from a voltage -stabilized rectifier. The
measuring device maintains stable functioning during fluctuations in the
line voltage from 190 to 230 v and has a straight-line frequency charac-
teristic-, from 0 to 1600 cps with an output current of 100 ma. -T~e wir-
ing diagrams for the bridge and resistance strain garles submitted by
the author have been repeatedly published on previous occasions.
