ABSTRACT: A checking circuit for magnetic measurements comparea
the field intensity and magnetic flux of specimen
coils with practical standards, which-in turn are com-

practical measurements are compared with the standard
measures. The most accurate method of comparLig mag-
netic measurements is the zero or ballistic method, in
which the secondary windings of the coils being com-
pared are connected either according to one of the
bridge connection diagrams or as bucking coils in series

TEXT: Methods are de~_cribed of total-loss measurements in
specimens of ferromagnetic materials at frequencies up, to 20 kcs/sec.
Results are presented of comparative investigations of the calori-
meter-, wattmeter and bridge- methods. Using the calorlmetric meth-
od the tested specimen was placed together with the magnetizing coil
in a Dewar vessel filled with transformer oil, and the losses were
determined by measuring the temperature of the oil. The value of
the max. magnetic induction corresponding to the measured loss was

calculated from the mean value of the a.c. emf as measured with a
vacuum-tube voltmeter. The value of the magnetizing current was
obtained from the PD across a standard reSiStor measured with a
vacuum-tube voltmeter. A 1131-10"-type generator with a power arripli-
fier was used to supply the apparatus. In order to determine the
loss irt.watts from the temperature readings, the thermal capacity
of the system was determined using a d.c. supply and measuring the
current and voltage by a compensation method, and the time with a
chronograph operated in parallel from the current switch. A 1.5%
accuracy of the total-loss measurements was achieved for frequen-

TITLE: Spin-echo in a weak magnetic field

TEXT: A device is described for observing nuclear magnetic resonance
etc. in liquids by means of spin-echo in a weak magnetic field (0-5 -10C4.
The specimen ispre-polarized in a magnetic field of about 400 oe which is
perpendicular to the weak field. After the polarizing field has been
removed, the specimen is subjected to r.f.-pulses in the usual way. The
equipment is arranged as follows;

TMIT: A methtxX to solve the problem of matching two flat waveguides is

~waveguide is converted to a flat equivalent regular waveguide with a dielectric
filling, dependent on the coordinates, by way of non-uniform compression in a

checks were performad for the determination of the stability of r--sull,;s on ad-

Communication 22. The 201 and OOC isotherms of the
Cd(0"1)2 - H02 - H20 ternary system

TEXT: The authors refer to the different, partly contradictory data on
cadmium peroxides. In Ref. 1 they had studied the system Zn(OH)2 - H202
H20, and because of the similar behavior of Zn and Cd they expected to
find analogous conditions in the Cd(OH)2 - H202 - H20 system. The present
report deals with the verification of this assumption. The system was
studied by means of the solubility method described in Ref. 1. Residuca
and liquid phases were analyzed for active o-yeen and CdO. The active
oxygen was determined by volvmetric analysis with *-Q"no4l the CdG- of the
residue as cadmium pyrophosphate. In the liquid phr-se NO was determined

by means of dithi,,,on and an ~9K-2 (PEK-2) electrophotocolorimeter. To
obtain equilibrium in the system, 2 hr were sufficient at OOC and about
1.5 hr at 200C. The 200C isotherm was studied between 0.00 and 80.10%
H202 in the liquid phase (Pig. 1). The OOC isotherm %as investigated
between 0.00 and 93.91% H202. For both temperatures, 5 solid phases were
found whose concentration ranges are indicated in Table 3. The inter-
'io.i between Cd'OH)2 and H202 resulted in phases of the hydrate type

whose composition is similar to that found in the corresponding System
with Zn(OH)2. An exact' analysis of the solid phases of the zlnc system
indicated that they contained the hyd.roperoxide 6roup -00H. This should
hold true for the cadmium system, too. There are 4 figures, 3 tables,
and 13 references: 3 Soviet-bloc and 6 non-Soviet-bloc.
