Chronic pyelonephritis can be recognized In X-rays of the kidney by the following
signs: different structure on one side; deformation of the papillae; dilatation of the
cavities; delayed evacuation: low concentration of the dye, augmentation, or reduct-
ion of the renal shadow. A clear X-ray picture of the pyelonephritic kidney may re-
veal how far the kidney to affected and make it possible to institute the right treat-
ment accordinj to the stage of thas disease. LAboratory investigation has not the

of subcutaneously injected Na24. The values of vlear~nce and clearance constant
are related to the quantity of tissue fluid. The changes in the peripheral blood
supply in the sole or the foot were simlied by ineans of the intravenously adm,nis-
tered isotope. It was rourd that when the circulation is slowed down oi- the quantity
or flowing blood lowered, the curve of tissue saturation with sodium is less steep

Many cases of tetanus are met with after trifling wounds. often unnoticed. and
also after operative procedures in which there is no apparent need for the
prophylactic appliC.2tiDn of antitoxin. There exists therefore a clear necessity
for active immunization with tetanus anatoxin. The numerous experiments of
Ramon and other workers, Initially on animals and subsequently on humans, an
well as the results of Inoculations in the majority of armies during the last
war, proved the superiority of this methDd ever passive immunization. The
discovery of.tetanus anatoxin has also rendcred possible the simultaneous
immunization with other anatoxins, as well as the treatment of tetanus. The
metbods of Inoculation and the dosage of anatoxin in prophylaxis and treatment
are discussed. The necessity for the Introduction of anti-tetanus inoculations
in Poland, which may be added to those already obligatory, is strestr-d.
