Abstract: Thera is an everincreasing evidence that the cardiovascular
diseases are on the rise in Yugoslavia. The authors discuss the characteristics
and classification of data concerning these diseases, the size of the
problem in Yugoslavia, the mortality and morbidity from these diseases,
and suggest also various, mostly preventive and apidemilogical measures
for the control of cardiovascular diseases. The arguments are supported
by comprehensive statistical data organized into tables and diagrams. The
processing of data is carried out according to disease as well as according
to geographic regions. There are 12 Yugoslav references.

tuberculin after a second testing were vaccinated. Test-
ing six months later showed that tuberculin allergy had
been established in 86.9 perceiit of those vaccinated.

Abstract: Epidemic of fulminant salmonellosis in farm of imported mink
near Belgrade, found due to Salmonella betti serotypes IX, XII, f, j; and
t which were found in organs of 6 out of "5 dead mink; severe hyperemia
and hyperplasia of spleen; petechial hemorrhages of pleura, epi- and
endocardium, kidneys. Salmonella kunzendorf was also found in 11 of the
75 dead and 9 of 25 killed mink. Exhortations to watch these expensive
animals more carefully immediately upon entry into country, beware of
slaughterhouse viscera as feed unless certified safe. Table, 3 Western

intestines, and lungs. A catarrhal process was observed in the duodenum,
jejunum, and ileum. Acute glomerulonephritis van diacoverod in tbo kid-
neys in many cases. Salmonella typhimurium, E. oolip Protous, B. sub-
tilis, and staphyllococcus albus were isolated.

"The Integration of the Health Service."

Abstract: The author describes briefly the zolutions sought In various
countries (11S, Fngland, USSR) to the problems of intogration between
medicine and -the public health service, i.e., between euxative and
preventive measures. He points out that action leading to health-ser-
vice integration in Yugoslavia ought not to be the mechanical fusion of
institutions but rather an integration of services. However, the inte-
gration of services in Croatia has resulted in institutional integration
as well in the form of medical centers which amalgamate dispensaries and
classic out-patient and polyclinic services with the corresponding hos-
pital departments. The author concludes with a discussion of the impor-
t-ance of planning for in' egration measures and a rebuttal of unnamed
critics of integration in the health services.

Moreover, the author is of the opinion that the general practitioner
in Yugoslavia ought to be the epidemiologist in his area, spreading
specific immunity through vaccination against disease when possible,
mobilizing the community to improve personal and public hygiene
standards, and studying ways of preventing accidents at work and in
public places.
