ABSTRACT: The article describes the disadvantages of the piece-
work payme)xt system and ito unsuitability for domestic
refineries., Two years ago the refineries in Sisak and
Ri,jeka introduced the "economic units"'system. The re-
finery in Bosanski Brod is to continue its shift to
the econom-lo unit system, The essence of this system
is that raw and other materials receive a planned price
before they are subjected to processing, Semi-products
and finished products also receive a price which is
caloulatedby adding to the planned price of raw and
othermaterials the cost of,.production, plant depreciation,
administrative costs, etc. All the prices have to re-

main stable for at least a year. The plant and its wor-
kers are divided into economic units, i.e. stora.-e
Itsells" at a fixed price the raw and other materials
to the first processing unit, which is the first econo-
mic unit of the plant. This unit "sells" again the semi-
processed product to the second processing unit, or
the second oconomic unit and so on. The economic ad-
vantage of this system is in the fixed prices and the
consequent saving of raw and other materials, which
automatically reduces the cost price. The payment
of bonuses is afforded to those who achieve the lowest
cost price.

TITLE- Processing metals by metal extrusion methods

TEXT. The author describes in detail the three types of metal extrusion
processes, i.e. forward, backward and the combined method, and the com-
ponents and types of presses and dies used in these processes. V.P. Roma-
novskiy (Ref. 1: Spravochnik po kholodnoy sh'tampovke (Manual of Cold
Stamping), Mashgiz, 1959) states that the specifications for determining
the pressure to be applied in cold extrusion of metals have not been suf-
ficiently verified and shows by way of graphs that the required pressure
has to be in, inverse ratio to the wall thickness of the product. A table
contains Romanovski's unit pressure values for aluminum, copW, brass
and certain carbon steel, expressed in kg/sq mm. In the cold extrusion
of non-ferrous metals, attention must be paid to the purity of the chemi-
cal composition and homogeneity of the material. To obtain a surface,

corresponding in smoothness and purity to the GOST 8th purity grade, the
material has to be immersed before processing in special lubricants, the
composition of which will depend on the type of materialo In addition to
the standard j3hapes of steel used in the cold extrusion process., special
steels are also lately being processed by this method in Germany. Hollow
turbine blades are being made from refractory round steel bars by the
combined proei~aaeg of swaging, cold extruding, drawing,,machiming narrow--
ing, and stretching. The cold forward extrusion process is being used
for the manufacture of small diameter pipes and tubes, while the cold
backward extrusion process is used for hollow cylindrical and prismatic
parts with a diameter of up to 100 nmi, a wall thickness of 1.5-.0.08 mm,
a length of 300 mm and an 8~1 length to d:~ameter ratio. Other tables
show the dimensions and the accuracy limits obta-ined by process.ing metals
by the forward and backward extrusion method respectively~ There are

Abstract juthors' Emglish nummar,,g: Concentration of carbon disul-
phide d percentage of retention were determined in inhaled and
exhaled air of five workers occupationally highly exposed to carbon
disulphide in a factory of viscose products * At the end of the
first hour of exposure average retention expressed in percentages
41.2 and at the end of four hours it was 48.4. As the difference
is aot statistically significarit,it can be concluded that in the
course of the first hour of exposure an equilibrium is reached
which practically does not change until the end of the shift. The
workers examined have been occupationally exposed to relatively
high concentrations of carbon disulnhide from 1-7 years. 3 Yugos-

Abs-tract: Transfusion of 200 to 1,000 ml. of dam's blood to each of
W4~ cYf-V-e-s with severe early diarrhea or enteritis uras accompanied with
administration of antibiotics or sulfonamides in all but 5 of the calves.
Only 1 of the 5 and 5 of the other 39 died, while 24 of the 50 treated
under comparable conditions only with antibiotics and sulAfonamides
(i.e. without transfusion) died. Escherichia coli and Proteus sp. were
isolated and tested for sensitivity to common antibiotics. Technical

Four cases of lung abscesses in a 16-year-old female and in 3 males aged 36,
52 end 53 yr. respectively, are presented. In 2 cases the symptoms of the disease
lasted for 13-14 months and in 2 others for 4-5 yr. Resection of the diseased
parts of the lung was performed in all 4 cases with complete_ recovery.
