Ihe subject discussed at the lot session was the progress attained in p43Aonaxy
surgery and the acceptance of caVerniatonr as an effective method of treating
cases formerly considered incurable. A next meetings were discussed an outstanding
achisyment in Soviet surgery, the treatment of intestinal obstruction by a lumbar
(bilateral paramphrel) novocain block. The suftoone present admitted that in a
certain type of intestJn&3 obstruction surgical interference was essential, and that
mortality was still highp but that the now method contributed to the recovery in

This occurs in 4.2-4.90/a. In the acute phase operation is recommended as tile dan-
ger of peritonitis in children is great. Conservative treatment is recommended
only in such cases when the infiltration i's recognized too late and is under resorp-
tion already. When this is completed, however, appendectomy should be under-
taken within 4 weeks under a penicillin screen.

The author is of the opinion that in bronchiectasis in children recovery can take
place only as a result of a radical operation, i.e. the complete removal of the
affected area of lung tissue. The stage of appearance of one or several small snc-
cular bronchlectases (bronchography) is the most favourable moment for surgical
operation because in such case the operation may be restricted t6 the removal of
the affected segments or of one lobe only. In case of a late appeal to the surgeon
there may exist the necessity to remove 2 lobes or even the whole lung. or even
to refuse surgical treatment altogether. Surgical treatment was employed in 31
children aged 2 to 15 yr., the left lung being affected in 21 of them and the right

I lobe in 8 children. In neglected coses of the diceaae in the presence of tough
cicatricial adhesions the operation is technically difficult and often accbmpanied
by pevere operative shock. Two children died Ifrom shock; the other 29 success-

.Abstract: In view of present exports of hares to Westorn
Europe there is increased interest in the parasites in their
intestinal tract. The author reviews the few findings on
the subject reported in the literature and reports on a
study conducted by the Veterinary Hygiene Department in 12
poulats of the Zlelona Gora wojewodztwo. 7he report in-
cludes material and tests employed and a tabulation of tho
findings with respect to coccidia, Triahostr. retortaep.,
Trichuris leporis, and Oysticeraus pisiformis. There are
two Polish references.

state of rest without the constant acetylcholine bombardment would
1~probably result in lattice structuring of the water reaching its
!maximum. value, This means that the water in the cytoplasm would
1practically have the crystal structure of ice and would form an ionic
,,crystal. The process of neuron excitation and its rest 'oration and
