TITLE: Granulated Fuel From Waste Products (Granuliroyannoye toplivo iz etkhodev proizvodetva) PERIODICAL: Steklo i keramika, 1958, Hr 91 Pp 42 - 42 (USSR" ABSTRACT: The waste products which a:re obtained in tfie gasification of zo_*ld fuel are tzr, heavy coal-tar products formed in by-product coking frocesses, and coal dust. Besides, usually a packing department predLlCing boxes is affiliLted to glass works which has to dispose of its chippings. By a combination of the waste products of these two lines of production a method of the productlQn of granulated fuel was developed in the Glass Works thin article. First coal dust and chippings are mixed in a rotating-barrel-type mixer at a volume ratio of 10 (this process takdo 1-2 minutes). Afterwardz the same amount * i acal-tar pro4tiots which are kopt at a temperaturi Card 112 of 50-60 is added and the whole substance is mixed no Granulated Fuel Pron Waste Products SOV/72-50-9-16/r. for 5-10 minutes. Solid granules vith a diameter of from -lo to eo mm are obtained, which neither coagulate nlb-r-d4tirioratt-.-This-fuel--oxhibitz s-calorific-falurv- af 6000 kcallkg, an ash content of 8-12';v@ and a humidity of 3-10%. It can be burned in boiler and bathing- establishments. The granules become indurated and coked during combustion. The small plant en6aFed in the production of this fuel-produced 1450 tons, -which proceduro lead to considerable savings. In the present paper, the resulta of exparimente are pr-2sented which compars .the waves generated by underground and surface explosions. The reflection of waves from!, stationzu-y obstacles is discussed. The experiments were carried out in a disturbed i sandy soil (sandy fill). TNT charges were used rar-ging f@vm 0.2 to 1.6 kg. ire wave .parametern were recorded, using high frequency tensometers, on an oscillograph. Sen. L sors were placed in the soil along lines perpendicular to the surface and radial lines.; .At some locations two sensors were oriented Li radial and transverse directions to the 1/2 ACC-Nas AT6034153- .ho experiments. the speed of propagation of the wave front and maximum pressure was studied a3 a function of a scaled distance which was a function of the actual distance @and the inverse cube-root of the weight of the charge. This coaparison wao made for chaz-bes fired both an the surface and underground. In the dLacussLon of results, the vaves am explaitied as being due to the superposition of the outgoing wave from the I40ured, a Wave reflected fr
