Abstract: In the study of the method of synthesis of the
lsoquinoline analogue of podophyllotoxin, 1-0,46-
trimethoxyphenyl)-3-carbethoxy-6,7-methylenedioxY-3,-
4-dihydroiaoquinoline (I) was obtained, and it was
found on that occasion that no cyclohydration of the
ethyl ester of Ok-(3,4,5-trimethoxy-bionzamido)- P
-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl).-propionic acid (II) is
. 4-piperon
caused by the action of P20 ITlidene-2-
(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-ox2;olone (II Is ob-
tained with PC1 5, and I is only partially produced

precipitX, yield 3.8%, melt. p. 113-1140 (from
ale.); plerate, melt. p. 193-1940 (from ale.); the
precipitates filtered off from water, Is washed with
NaHCO and IV Is obtained* yield 54%, melt. P. 98-
