Vol 104, No 27, 7 July 1963, pages 1279-1281. Abstmett (Authors' Hungarian summary] The authors describe a case of strong- 17-va-s-Rurized glomus tumor which presented the picture of a peritonsillar abscess. In this connection, the differential diagnosis of disorders Which might imitate peritonsillar abscesses is discussed. Through their own ex- perience, the authors recommend the histological ocamination of a biopsy sample for the diagnosis of all syndroms which might be mistaken for this disease. Extensive hemorrhage can be prevented. The diagnosis of atypically located peritonsillar abscesses is also facilitated by this method. 1 Hunga- rian, 16 liestern references. . -T@- , ) @@, -J @ , -1-- t-, . -- - I . The main metallurgical problem in manufacturing such steel relates to non-metallic inclusions. In order to determine the effect of certain basic factGra on the micro-purity of the steel under production conditiona prevailing in Czechoslovakia, a detailed analysis Vas made of 150 heats of a 12-ton basic electric-are furnace of the 1957-8 campaign. The metallurgical process of the melts was followed in detail and metallographical analyses were carried out ou specimens which were subjected to a practically equal degree of reduction. The results were Cardl/5 evaluated by statistical methods and attention was paid 67137 JUCH 4-V-1-4/21earIngs I L Contribution to the Manufacture of tool or oller to the possibility of revealing the influence of some individual manufacturing parameters on the micro- purity of steel. Details are given of the smelting process and of the metallurgical and statistical analyses used, Figure I shown 6- dimensional sketch of the ingot would for casting ingots of 940 kg. The influence of the burning-off of carbon on the micro-purity of the steel is entered In the graph, Figure 8. The influence of the id-,- iAr-hszr"At-"rL__&nm&d- @7W W oL -dep*ndeno*-oK--tbe--olcro-p-urity of-atool- 0 f- holding the -steel- in theladle. - The graph,--Figure 11, gives the influence of the casting time of the ingot on the micro-purity, whilst the graph, Figure 12, giv6s the influence of the P and 5 contents on the micro-purity. In the experiments, the micro-purity was determined on the basis of the Jernkontoret scale. Metallographical analysis has shown that the greatest proportion of admixtures is formed by complex iron-base oxides of globular shape. Card2/5 In addition, all the molts contained silitide and 67137 CZECH/34-6o-i-4/23 Contribution to the Manufacture Of Steel for Roller Bearings complex aluminism-silicon inclusions. Aluminium-silicon inclusions form fine rows aLnd# in some spots, these are of considerable length- However, there are large areas which are completely free of such admixtures. In all the samples investigated slag particl*z were detected. Sulphur inclusions are rare and are predominantly fine in character. Complex sulphur-based inclusions were also found. In a mathematical-statistical study, the infLuence of metallurgical factors was investigated from the point of view of micro-purity. It has been proved that t degree cr-burning-of f -of' carbon and the decarburisation speed have a direct influence on the micro-purity. No influence was detected of the duration of the reduction process or of the time of adding FeCr. Also it could not be confirmed that the Mn:Si ratio had any influtwe. In investigating the effect of the quantity of Al used for final deoxidation, it was found that smaller quantities Card3/5 of Al yield poorerresults than larger quantities oC Al. - Lrll@ W IV CZECH/34-6o-1-4/23 Contribution to the Manufacture of Steel for Roller Hearings It was established that 4-5 min in the optimum time for holding the steel in the ladle. In investigating the influence of the casting time it was found that fast casting brings about an appreciable improvement in the micro-purity of the steel. It was possible to prove that the P and S contents have an adverse effect on the micro- purity; an increase of the P+S content by 0.05% brings about, on the average, a deterioration in the micro- purity by 0.46. "y reduction in the quantity or dimonnions of the inclusions and any improvement in the uniformity of their distribution has a pronounced effect on the improvement of the quality of the ateel. The results can be utilised for improving the quality of roller-bearing steel produced in basic electric-arc furnaces. There are 12 figures, I table and 13 references, of which 8 are Soviet.
