Abstract: Experiments on cats indicated that there are two
systems of the synaptic effect of afferent Impulses carried
from the visceral nerve to the Investigated motoneurons. One
acts faster and does not seem to be organized on the principle
of reciprocity. The other system Is more efficient. t-akes n

The third and the last volume (first volume was on flight instruments, the second an
navigation instruments) deals with instruments for the control of motors and, the
fuselage. First chapter contains methods of measuring non-electric values by
electric methods used in aeronautics; second,, third, and fourth chapters describe
aeronautic electric instruments, their physical principles, tWry and design; the
following chapter deals with electric long-distance tranamist-lons; chapters six and
seven describe instrwents controlling the operations of motors, fluselage; the
eighth and last chapter contains infomation on the control panel where the instruments
are mounted. Each chapter contains information on physical principles, prActical

TEXT: A gyroscope ib described, whose rotor has the shap@pf a mercury ring rotating in it magnetic field
under the action of electric current. Such a rotor does not rcqun, any kind of bearings. The basic component
of the device proposed is a strong permanent magnet provided with pole shoes that form a cylindrical, ring
shaped mercury-filled cavity. That part of the pole shoes, in contact with mercury, is covered with a smooth
enamel coating. Between the pole shoo, there are elastic insulating ring-bushing to which ringshaped
metallic currcnt-feeding contacts are fastened. The current while passing through the mercury ring in an axial
direction interacts with the magnetic 6eld of the permanent magnat causing the mercury rin: to rotate. The

TEXT: A gyroscope is described, in which the momentum of th* rotor is created by rotation or a massive
cylindrical mercury-ring in an electrotnagrictic field. Such a rotor does not require any kind of beatings. The
stator of the asynchronous electric motor has internal helical channels filled with mercury which serves as
the rotor or the electric motor. In their upper part the helical channels are connected to a radial channel
also provided with an internal mercury rim confined by the cylindrical wall of the stator body and the wall
of the tangentially located internal channels, Between this wall and the wall of the tangential channels of the
external rim, the mercury rotnts a cylindtical ring. The external mercuty-tim Is connected by radial channels
to the lower pirt of the helical channels. When a three-phase current is applied to the stator winding, the
mercury in the helical channels raises under presmurc, passes through the upper radial channel, into the internal
rims and, entering the internal tangential channel% rotates t14 cylindriW mercury ring. The mercury pawA
then through the external tangential channels into the citernii rim and enters through the lower radial chan.
nels, the lower section ofthe helical channels. As a result orsuch a circulation the massive cylindrical mercury
ring is subjected to a high rotational speed. Variation of mercury volume with temperature is compensated
for by an insulztinS clasting tube.

An experimental Investigation was W&de of automated argon-sre weld-
Ing with a non-consumable electrode on a salient surface with a low radius of
curvature. Welding in such a case Is only possible if the inclination "Is of
the electrode will be varied by the torch. It must-&lso be taken into account
that the motion of the electrode and of the "Iding machine carrIage are diffe-
rent, and that thererore the welding speed in greater on a curved than on a
strai&ht section. An attachment for the automatic AACB-1 M (ADSV-IM) machIne
was developed with a duplicating roll connected to the welding torch and a spe-
cial pickup. The torch oan be brought Into a perpendicular position to the sur-
face and the electrode is automatically maintained along the normal toward the
weldir4 surface. The arc length remains constant, and the speed of the torch
