USSR/Rumn and Animal Physiology. Thermoregalation. T-3 Abs Jour: Ref Zhui@-Biol., No 12, 1958, 55378- After an adminiatziLtion of phenamin (which by itself causes some rise in body temperature), the B. mesentericus injection caused a more pronounced temperature rise in some tests, and a less pronouncedd rise in temperature in other tests as compared to control tests. Also, studies were made on the effect of a B. mesentericus injection on 2 castrated dogs. In this case) during a certain initial period of time, following the injection of the pyrogenic agent, a decrease in FE was observed. However, after a pro- longed period of time (about 3J years) the febrile capacity of the animals was completely restored. The animals wers under tobservation when in a state of activitys in a period of hibernation, and .at the moment of their waking from hibernation. During normal winter hibernation, animals were maintained at a teinoerature of 3-5C. Tests on active anintals took place indiscriminately, either before or after normal hibernation. The animals were decapitated and femur muscle specimens were quickly removed, cooled, and homogenized In a saline solution as follows (final concentration, M): KC1-0.1; trio-buffer(pH-7.4)-0.05; MgCl-O.OO5; ATP-0.001; versene-0.001; 20% of the homogenate was centrifuged for 5 min at 800 a. The supernatant was then centrifuged for 20 min at 12,000 G. Mitachondria from I g of fresh tissue were mixed in 1.5 ml of fluid. Ibis procedure took place at a temperature Card CHINEIIKOV, yu.v.
