I . FYUISTENBERG, A., inzh. Incandescent lamp as an indicator in measurements. Radio no.12: 41-43 D 161. WRA 14:12) (Electric meas-irements) (Electric lamps, Incandescent) S/108/61/016/012/009/009 D201/D302 AUTHOR: Fyurstenberg, A.I. TITLE: Comparison of constant frequencies by-the differentiall generator method PERIODICAL; Radiotekhnikal vo 16, no. 12, 1961, 66-75 TEXT: In the present articlel the author describes an improved diffo- rential generator method of measuring an unknown fixed frequency from a standard frequency and readings of a differential generator, using, normal oscilloscope comparison methods. In the described method both eymmetrical and assymmetrical "half-figures" are used, the half-figures being the upper and the lower figures identical, but shifted in phase as obtained on the oscilloscope screen using the differential generator method. The described method consists of applying throughiresistances RI and R2 to the Y - plates of an oscilloscope voltages of the higher fH and lower fL frequencies. The voltage of the variable frequency f D Card 1/4 S/108/61/016/012/009/009 Comparison of con6tant. 9e. D20I/D302 of the differential generator is applied to the horizontal deflection amplifier terminals. The measured frequency f x may be either higher than or lower than the standard frequency fo. If, by varying the fre- quency of the differential generator; f Xis made equal to the difference of frequencies being compareds i.eo X=f 0t f,), then the well-known in- tricate figure appears on the oscilloscope screen, whose shape has the form of a cylinder, with its end surfaces at opposite angles. By vary- ing the frequency of the differential generator it is possible to estab- lish the following relationship between f D and the fixed frequencies be- ing compared f z-N(f ! f ~), where f the larger of the frequencies L 8 D n L being compared, f. - the smaller one, N the order of evenness frequen- cy (a whole number), m - the number of peaks and loops on the horizontal sids oftkt half figure, n - same on the vertical side. For m=n the figure consiste of several ellipses. For given phase relationships all C14rd 2/4 5/108/61/016/012/009/009 Comparison of constant 000 D201/D302 or some of the ellipses degenerate into straight lines. False"tuning" in possibleo To obtain a correct result of measurement of the unknown frequency the following rule should be observed: To determine the order of ev*nni)ss of frequency N, the greater of the frequencies being compared is dividod by the smaller and the quotient in made equal to the nearest whole number. The number o~ ptaks.and.loops n on the vertical side of the half-figure is taken equal to N, 2N, 3N ... Various cases are con- sidered, together with the resulting oscilloscope figures and method of avoid:Lng mistakes in reading the figures describede Recommendations are given on the relative order of magnitude of differential generator frequenciess and methods of "reading".,the figures in comparing nearly equal frequencies, are discussed, The use of filters in recommended when the wave forms are distorted and relative measurement errors are dis- cussed. It in stated in conclusion that the differential generator method mity find its applications in laboratory practice for cases when fixed froquencies in the ratios other than whole numbers are to be com- pared. The method is partiqularly suited to measure small frequency shifts of RF generators, to determine the tuning accuracy of VFOI&, Card 3/4 -_FXUIk--IBH=Gl__A. , inzh. Moscow, Izd-vo Nauka, 19640 28-32 TOPIC TAGS% methyl-substituted styrene, yinyltoluene copolymer methylatyreae copolymer, divinylbenzene_ copolymer -chlaromethylation, diene copolymer, chloro- methyl ether- ABSTRACT., 1he authors investigated the conditions of the introduction of mobile 1CI atoms into the molecular structure'of vinyltoluene-o(-methylstyrene and vinyl- toluene-divinylbenzens copolymers by means of monochloromethyl. ether. A freshly distilled mcnochloromethyl ether (b.p, 58.5-59.8C1760 no was used. The reaction 1~*a described. The affect of the granule site an the Cl content in the chloro- CgWphyb5ed product was Investigated at the boiling temperature of monochloromethyl L 40015-.0 ACCESSION NR.* AT4049840 ether, using non-aqueous ZnCl? as the catalyst. Analytical data show that by us- ing a highly swollen copolymer,.the diameter of the spherical granules doev not affect chlDrcmethylation. The high Cl content in the copolymer (more than 20.48%) indicates that two chloromethyl groups enter so= copolymer units. It can be assumed that chloromethylation proceeds in two stages. The dependence of Cl con- tent in tho chloromethylated product ca the time and temperature of reaction and amount and nature of the catalyst was investigated and the ditta plotted. Data obtained at: 13C on the effect of time in relation to divinylbenzene content showed that with an increasing number of crossliWcs in the copolymer structure, the Cl content decreases in the end products. This is due to the decrease in swelling capacity of the copolymer in monochloromethyl ether when the content of the bridge- forming component increasesq and hence to the decrease in the permeability of the macromolecular lattice for the molecules' of monochloromethyl ether. Data on chloromethylation at 59.5c, when the copolymer contained different aitounts of divinylbenzone, showed that an increase in the amount of crosslinking component does not significantly affect the 01 content of the end produ,:ts at this tempera- ture. ThIs is explained by the fact that at the boiling point of the chloromethyLt- ting igent, the swelling capacity of the copolymer increases, and the macromole- oular lattice remains accessible to the mono--hloromethyl ether molecules. The M cot%tent reaches, its theoretical value in 3 hours* The effect of the nature and 2/3 ACCESS100 NR: AT4049840 amount of dtfferent catalysts on -chlor.owthylation of copoLymers containing 10% 0-methyletyrene (by weight-of vinyltoluene) and 4.16% diviaylbenzene (based on the sum of the above components)-,was investigated at the b.p, of the chloromethyla- ting agent with a particle size 'of 0.50-1.00 m. Tabuiated data shov that an increase in the amount of catalyst, under otherwise equal conditions, causes the Cl content, incorporated during chloromethylation in a unit: time, to increase. in amounts of 0.0145 and 0.0057 modes per 5 g of co- On using UCI? and SnCl4 polymer, :-eapectively, the CI content in the end product reaches its theoretical value in A hour. The best results were obtained with SnC14 and ZnCIZ! the Cl content wits 24.67 and 24.927.. This demonstrates the electrophilic substitution by the chloromethyl group which results in the formation of dichloromethyl deriva- tives. By retaining the correct spherical shape of the granuleas the degree of chemical conversion to the correspondina-dichloromethyl derlvat~.ves 'was kept at 80-811.. In most regions of the country the water is of h weak radioactivity ( > I 'i,%,--%curiejl). The dependence be- tween the water level in the Dinube and the radioacti- vity of the Hellert springs in determined. In con- nection with this it is noted' that water having a con- nection with ancient granites are more radioactive. Gases, emanating from mineral springs possess a high- er concentratio:t of radiiuu. A rise in intra-pancreatic pressure may account for the development of slastoais, which is frequently associated with lipomatosis. This also could be a result of the raised pancreatic pressure,, whicli causes ruptures in the walls of the du'ct's and netcrosia and digestion of the glandular tissue. Acta physiologica , v. 28, ne. 1, 296.5, 31-IM TOPICTAGSv udno acid. protein. blosyntbesis. tracer study ABSTRAM The role played by the free amino acid pool in protein synthesis was studied in pigeon pancreas slIces, The slices were pre-labelled with tagged amino acid and were incubated for various intervals In a non-radioactive medium. A con- tinuous increase was observed in the labelUng of the proteins of sytoplande particli in spite of the rapid decrease in the specific radioactivity of the free amino acid in Vie call. The amount of particle-bound amino acids and their exchange kinetics hal been determined. Neither the free amino acids of the call sap nor those of cytoplasmil particles were found to be utilired directly for protein synthesis. The wd3tenCO Of I bouni pool is discussed. The authors thank Professor F.-B-s-Straub for valuable advice andatimulating discussions during the research. They Also thank Dr. Qj=A for preparing the silicon oll.
