the tube is operated without the trap, the stability deteriorates.
The optimu~rworlcing conditions of the tube at a workinS voltage of
470,kV per pulse were: pressure io-5 mm fig, anode to cathdde
distance 25 mm. The *amplitude of the pulse under these conditions
does not vary by more than i 399 over long periods of time. The
total output of X-rays is then 1019 1020 quanta/sec with a pulse
duration of (3-4) x lo-7 sec.
