In order to examine the activity of a local anaesthetic in conduction and mmucosa
anaesthesia the absorption or procaine, cocaine, tetracaine and cinchoc. in-, as
tested in isolated cornea and bladder mucotia of cats and in cat cornea in vivo. It
was determined that the rate of absorption of the local anaesthetics in the cornea
increases in the following order: procaine, covaine, tetracaine, cinchocaine. The
extent of the absorption in the bladder muco3a is smaller than in the cornea, but
tile rate or absorption is the same. By measurement of the amount of local
inaesthetip penetrated Into and absorbed by the cornea the force of the fixation of
the torn] inaesthetic to the tissue could be tested. The force of fixation Increases
in the following order; procaine. cocaine. ictracaine, cinchocaine. The so-called

a, stheties (cinchocaine and tetracaine) are therefore suited to this pur-
pose. because they are absorbed faster and their activity lasts longer than that of
the conduction anaesthetics, (XI. 12)

minerals
Orig Pub : Stavivo, 36, No 11, 437-438 (1958)
Abstract : The photonstric determination of P In minerals in HNO 3'
H2SO4, and HC14 is described. In the first case a
sample containing 0.25 - 6 zig P20 is evaporated twice
to dryness in a Pt crucible with ~ ml KF and 4.ml conc
HNO3, respectively; the procedure is repeated two more
times with cone EN03 ard the residue is dissolved In 3 ml
(1 : 3) EN03 - The solution obtained is diluted with

pp 537-542.
Abstract: A paper based on a study of the efffects of methyl-
androstenediol in radia-.ion sickness, and ihe protective
effect of this steroid combined with a chemical protective
agent when administered before irradiation. The test was
performed on 160 white rats divided into 4 lots and irradiated
with a dose of 800 r. The potentiating effect of t.,Ie steroid
was confirmed by the test (for non-lethal doses of radiation).
Includes one table and 4 figures.
