ABSTRACT: Studies involving 20 dogs showed that the radio-iaotopic method for the
study of renal affliction is eas:Uy supported by the animals, rap5A and relatively
accurates In irradiated dogs without burns, no changes in renal twictions unere noted
by this method-, third degree burns over 10 percent of the body surface aggravated the
evolution~of irradiation disease, with an ear disturbance of renal functions.

Abstract: The authors recommend this test as a valuable method
for keeping a conlinuinE; check on the functional condition of" the
thyroid gland. Since the test is conducted outside the body,
there is no limitation as to how often it can be used; among its
other advantages is that alimentary iodine or iodine in drugs or
other clinical products does not affect the results.

Title Regeneration of Cationites by Electrolytic Method.
Orig Pub Rev. chim., 1957, 8, No 8, 524-528
Abstract The regeneration of sulfocarbon was carried out under la-
boratory conditions in an electrolyser consisting of a
vertical glass tube !4 to 16 mm in diameter filled with
19 g of cationite. The Al electrode connected to the ne-
gative pole of a direct current source was placed in the
bottom part of the tube. The positive pole was connected
to an Al plate situated above the cationite mass. The re-
generation was performed with a 1.5%-u&1 H2SO4 solution
or a 10%-ual NaCl solution, which were placed in a funnel

inserted in the upperpart of the electrolyser. The expe-
riments showed that at the regeneration with H2~04 and a
simultaneous passage of a current of 8 v in the duration
of 60 to 90 min., the ion exchange capacity increased up
to 15% in comparison with the ion exchange capacity of sul-
focarbon regenerated with H2SO4 without the passage of the
current; the necessary voltage is 8 to 12 v, if the N&Cl
solution was applied. The simplicity of the proposed me-
thod makes its industrial application possible.

ABSTRACT: The note--
:orological riquirements for the 'iulgarl g-r'apes, Bulgaria 19 principal type'
.of export grape, were investigated. The study was conducted by employing
the criterion of heat totals required for the production of high-quality
:grapes. The following additional factors were also investigated: date of
.the beginning and end of the vegetation period, duration of the vegeta-
tion period, incidence of harmfully low temperatures during the winter,
spring and autuisn, sumer season temperatures, uoistu~e supply available
during the vegetation and saturation period. The agrotechnIcal rulas.for
,the growing pf.the grapes were laid down on the basis of these data.,

Abstract : A study was made of 136 human umbilici and placentae, some
of them (40) by means of injections after delivery- 140
circular folds or valves (valvase Hobokenii) exist in
bilical or placental vessels before birth. The folds aP-
pear after birth as a result of contractions of the mus-
cles of the umbilical and placental vessels, and my disap-
pear later. Their development May also be explained by
physical laws: when the umbilical artery is fiUed under
a pressure of 30-200 = Hg constrictions and typical folds

ABSTRACT: The ap?roximate solution for the deflection of thick plates derived.in
the article is based on the assumption that the dofloction can be dooomposed into
two mutually independent components - defection caused by bonding, the magnitude of
whiaii emanates frat the theory of their plates, and deflection caused only by shear.
The paper has as its purpose calculation of the latter defleotion, Baslo equationa
are derived vihioh are in agreoment with B. Reissnor's th,3ory ("The effect of trans-
vArso shear deformation on the bonding of elastic plates." Journal of Applied

V chanics, Vol 2, Trans. A=, (1945), A69-A77. "On bonding of elastic plates,"
Quarterly of Applied Mathematios, Vol 6. (1947). 65-68). The deflections caused by
shear strain are obtained by solving the equation o4 equilibrium forces which are
perpendicular to the plate's plane of symmetry, expressod in tems of strain. The

Abstract : A study of the effects of benzedrine upon the isolated
heart, the rectus muscle of the frog, uteri of the guinea
pig and rat, the distal segment of the ileum of the gui-
nea pig, and the arteries and adrenocortic&L secretions
of dogs as well as other animls demonstrated that benze-

to natural vegetotrophic substances. S-11 doses of ben-
zedrine caused a decrease in cardiac contractions; large
doses had positive tonotropic and inotropic actions.

In dogs benzedrine caused a decrease in blood pressure
but had no effect upon blood pressure changes caused by
adrenalin or acetylcholine. A subdural injection of ben-
zedrine caused convulsions, fibrillary tvitchings, midri-
WiS and, at times, exaphthalms. The administration of
medium-sized doses of benzedrine to female rats caused
hypertrophy of the ovaries and uterus and prolonged es-

veight, atrophy of the ovaries and uterus and the disap-
