employed in calculating the investment pattern for the pungarian ferrous-
metallurgical industry jor the next 20 years yielding the optimum results*
The goal was an 80% inPease in total output., raising the per capita an-
nual consumption to 480 kg. Any facil.ities to be replaced owing to obso-
lescence were taken into account. The total amount to be invested was
over 32 billion Forints. Financing was to be from domestic resources onlyo'.
The mathematical formulation of the optimikation problem was described
and applied to the calculation for the program involving the fastest pos-
:sible completion of Investments that have already been started. A com-
