TITLE: Over-All Development in the Collective Farms of Turkmenia During the First Foat-War.Five Year:Plan (Razvitiye obshchestvennogo khozyaystva kolkhozov Turkmenii v pervoy poslevoyennoy pyatiletke) PERIODICAL: Uch. zap. Turkm. un-t, 1956, Nr 8, pp 211-224 ABSTRACT: During the 1946-1950 five year plan more than 5 000 agricultural machines and implements, including 1567 tractors, reached the republic. During this period mechanization increased as follows: in cotton planting --from 72.1 to 94.4 percent; in cultivating--from 38.4to 64 percent; in fertilizing--from 26.4 in 1949 to 50 percent in 1950. Plowing operations became 95.7 percent mechanized. Mechanization of irrigation became highly Card 1/2 14-57-6-13005 ok Over-All Development in the qollective Farms (Cont.) important. Collective farmers began to participate more fully in all phases of agriculture. During that period the state extended t6 the collective farmers of Turkmenia long term credit for more than 18 million rubles. Cotton crops on the collective farms were increased by 57 percent, areas planted in cotton--by 21 percent The ross total of cotton picked in 1950,surpas5ed the 1940 volume by 96 100 tons. Great success was achieved in animal raising. Increase in the number of large horned cattle from 1940 to 1950 amounted to 118.1 percent, with the number of cows increasing by 157 percent. Sheep herds grew by 64.5 percent and camels by 71.6 percent. Coll 'active farm revenues became more than 2-5 times larger, and total weekly funds more than 2.7 times larger during this period. Payment for day labor on the collective farms was 2-.9 times greater than in 1940. More cereals, meat, milk, fruit, potatoes, fodder, etc, were marketed. The paper supplies numerical data and tables which show the develop- ment of the republic's agriculture. Card 2/2 Do 1. K. rsRAPILOYA, AsTue - I- - - -: - - m ~ . Morphine-scopolamine narcosis paralyses the metabolic cebtres of the hypothalamus and thus inhibits the effect of the above-mentioned drugs on these centres, but it does not influence the increase in oxyglen-consumption caused by adrenaline and -dinitrophenol which act directly on the colls. Plorphine!scopolairtine narcosis is useful for the separation of centrally-producted increase of metabolism from that of peripheral origin. Wirkung der Iforphin- Scopolaminnarkose auf den Stoffwechsel Effect of morphine - scopolamine narcosis:on basal metabolism Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archiv fuer Experimentelle Pathologie und Pharmakologie 1948, ?05/4-5 (339-405) Tables 2 To inhibit function of the basal centres of the central nervous system morphone-, scopolamine was used. 2-5 mg-/100 g. of morphine and 0.2-615 mg-/106 g of scopolamine caused only a slight decrease of the oxygen consumption of normal rate (average - 10%) as measured by the method of Issekutz and Iseekutz Jr. (Arch. Exp. Path. 1942, 199, 306). Morphine-scopolamine narcosis inhibited temperature regulation;:on co lin con w 1 9 02 suition increased less and rectal temperature decreased more than in intaict, animals. Iforphiiie- scopolamine narcosis acts partly by inhibiting hypothalamic metabolism centres, partly by dilatation of skin vessels. The latter effect lasts longer thamthe former. J. After dis?3ection of the spinal cord the dog's hind leg reacted to Reneral refr-t!reration w'th an increase of the metabolic rate by 500/o, but the denervated limb of such nnimals also reacted with an increase in a similar rant-e.
