"A Case of Tick-Borne Encephalitis."

Abstract: Authors review the history of incidence of tick-
borne encephalitis in humans in Poland and other European
countries and describe the case encountered by them. Dia-
gnosis was facilitated by careful questioning of the pa-
tient, and treatment was successful. Incidence of case
in August is consistent with findings that this is the
month of peak virulence of the disease, confirmod the
existence of another focus of infection in Poland, and
contribute to the epidemiology of this disease in the
country. There are 25 references, of which 2 are Choch,
4 are Russian, and the others are Polish.

Abstract; Data on 217 ratients with food poisoning treated 1961 to 1963;
Ties w~r-e 10 to 70, mostly 21-40 (114 persons), ice cream was responsible
in 10, canned or prepared fish in 24, mushrooms in 24. of 217 fecal
.specimens tested bacteriologically, 20 were positive; of 110 Gastric contents
specimens, 42 were positive. The most frequent bacteria involved were
Staphylococcus aureus (18 cascs)t Escherichia coli in 20, Streptococcus

The amount of serum used is decreased, and the incubation teq)-
erature reduced to 2600. The enzyme reaction under these con.-
ditions has a linear course in normal and high values, and it
is not neebssary to repeat the analyses. Concentration of di--
nitrophenylhydrazine is increased to correspond to the concen.-

monocytogenes) in pigs and sheep, 1961 and 1962: Symptoms were predominantly
those of the central nervous system affection, explaingible by finding of ab-
scesses only in the brain and in the medulla upon necrapsy. In 9 foci of
sheepp morbidity in the individual heards was 2.4%. There were no abortioils.
