ul-iich velghs 25 kz, is suspended in a magnetic field and rotates
about a vertical All aspects of t1te stability of the system
are discussed and it is shovrn that damping in the horizontal plane
is required. The rotor is maintained in space ivith no mechanical
contact to an accuracy - 0.01 aun in rotational stability and is
driven by an asynchronous motor on the same axi.;. 11o vertical
oscillation is observed with a: microscope (5030. A detailed
description of the vertical and horizontal stabilizing circuits
is also given. In the rotor are two slit systems, 13 in each.,
symmetrically placed with respect to a diameter of the rotor.
At the exit the slit width is 0.4 am, at the centre 0.6 mm, And
the height is 15 mm. The camber of the slit at one wall is 0.2 mm
and the other 0.4 aim. With this arrangement two neutron pulses
