It may be applied In focal, non-tu4erculous diseases of the eye. It may be consider-
ed as unspecific treatment. As a matter of fact it may be advised only In cases in
which the development of the addiitional inflammatory process is harmful. The
author advises typhoid vaccine as the best kind of treatment. Personal researches
show that the stimulation of the reticuloendotheUal system and the increase of the
cellular defence take place during treatment with typhoid vaccine. Its efficacity is
broader and safer than the action of ACTH or cortisone. One should bear in mind
that contraindications e)dst such as cachexia, cardiovascular conditions, tb etc.
The best effects may be obtained in Inflammatory diseases of anterior segment,
optic nerve, penetrating traumas. purulent conjunctivitis, sympathetic innamma-
tion. 7%e typhoid vaccine is applied in increasing doses by 1. v. Injection beginning
with 0.01 ml. Finally the effect obtained with Bohomolec serum is presented.

The experiments were carried out on 64 subjects to determine the amplitude, al-
teration and disappearance of this pulse. The diastolic and systolic arterial press-
ure in the brachial artery was measured as well as the intraocular tension and
the artbrial pressure in the central artery of the retina with Bailliart's tonometer.
No correlation between the physiological reverse pulse and systolic or diastolic
pulsation of arteries, caused by the artificial pressure with the instrument men-
tioned was stated. In further investigations the reverse pulse was only observed
and the manifestations were classified as follows: (a) very distinct, (b) distinct
but localized to one segment of the vessel, (c) distinct, but the 'movement' of the '
artery did not exceed the width of the average artery, (d) oscillation of the light
reflexes, (e) dubious or weak, and finally, (f) no arterial movements. The ex-
periments were carried out in cases of tuberculum solitare, chorioretinitis, re-
tinitis albuminurica hypertonica, periphlebitis, thrombosis of the central retinal
vein, embolism of the central retinal artery, atrophia n. optici, melanomas. The
observations represented on the enclosed table are subjective. They were per-
formed with the binocular ophthalmoscope of Gullstrand, which facilitated the ob-
servation of this rejection pulse. The pulse was chiefly seen in the cases of cho-
raidal and retinal diseases as well as in neuritis optica and rarely in the degen-
erative entities of the retina, in high myopia and atrophies of the optic nerve. The
author suggests that the presence of the reverse pulse in cases of blurreil papillae
n. optici excludes the oedematic origin of these and also that the lack of the pulse
mentioned indicates increased intraocular tension. Thus it has or may have diag-

The author performed various cytological investigations upon the aqueous humour,
including this study of the alterations in a fraction of which the numerator repre-
sents the number of monocytes plus reticulo-endothelial cells, while the denominatoi
represents the number of leucocytes plus lymphocytes. Failure of this quotient to
show any change indicates a poor state of the tiasue-defences. Increase in the mag-
nitude of the ratio, on the other hand, in prognostically favourable.

ABSTRACT: The ore of Ege-Khay deposits is not readily concentrated.
Concentration tests of gravitational plant tailings were performed
on samples containing 0.23 percent Sn. The testing procedure
involved the sifting of initial tailings into four classes: +0,5,
-0.5+0.3, -0.3+0.074, and -0.074 mm; the first three of these
were concentrated on concentration tables and the material with
particles of -0.074 mm was classified by hydraulic means into
fractions of -74+40, -40+25, -Z5+14, and -14 1-k ; of these the first
three fractions were concentrated on padded concentration
Card 1/2 sluices. The investigations have shown that the concentration of

tailings will increase extraction of Sn by 12 percent while the total extraction
at the plant will reach 72 percent. Flotation investigations have shown that the
cassiterite in Ege-Khay slurries have extremely poor flotation characteristics.
Concentrates containing approximately I percent of Sn may not be obtained
economically because the slurries have to be preliminarily treated with con-
centrated HCl and large amounts of reagents are consumed.

TIMP-* Emergency Signal Relay in Flying Scraper Operations

ABSTRACT: The flying scrapers employed in scraping paraffin from oilvell
pipees are regulated by recording manometers. Such control is inefficient
and must be replaced by remote control and RAS-1 emergency signal relays.
A RAS-1 relay (Fig, 1) consists of a relaxation oscillator mounted on a
MTKh-90 cold-cathode thyratron, and of a storage cell in vhich the storing
cycle is determined by the thyratron ignition joint and the charging tins
constant of the capacitor. The relaxation oscillator consists of Rt, R2,
and R3 resistors, a C, capacitor, and a MTKh-90(L) thyratron. In,caae of
jemmihg the relaxaUon oscillator gets a voltage of 140 v for charging the
fil capacitor through the R2 -1 -It , and R3resistors. The PM-1 relay is
designed to qj*rate-efficientl~ in the temperature range of -50 to + 50*
and maintain the prescribed time leg. This is secured through tem-
perature compensation by means of a KMT-1 thermistor of 270 kilo-obm.
In case of Jamming the emergency signal goes off 90 minutes after the
initiation of the operating cycle and in case of detention in the in-
duction coil it goes off 5 minutes later. The signal lasts the entire
emergency period. There is 1 figure.
