ABSTRACT: Pine aggregate concrete based on 12 quartz or pummiua sands and Portland cement of 350 kg per Cm activity could produce high quality concrete suitable for prestressed construct-.1ons. Vibro- ground cement intensifies hardening of concrete in the initial stages and by that reduces the time during which reinforcement should be kept under tens-ion. At the same time vibzo-graund cement slightly increases shrinking. Fine aggregate concretes based on pit sand in comparison with concretes based on .-znashed sand have lower elasticity (35-50%) than values given in _NiTU 123-55. These should be taken into acocunt-wheL- evaluating deformations in prestressed constructiona based on fine aggregates. Fine aggregate light concretes have slightly higher elasticity than light concretes based on porous sr~nd and ballabt. Shrinking of high Card 1/3 0/7-58-5-5/14 Use of Fine, High Strength Ooncrete for Prestressad Reinforced Concrete Constructions. quality fine aggregate concretes is many times higher than shrinking in concretes based on sand and ballast. Shrinking of fine aggregate concrete based on sana from pumice is 13% higher than shrinking in concretes based on fine aggregate and quartz sand. Calculations show that in prestressed con-structions made from fine aggregate concrete where the grains do not exceed 5mm in size if no special gradation is performed and when 600kgs per M3 cement is used the loss of pre-tensioning due to "sluggishness" could be higher than p;rmissable Values. High strength values of concrete are obtained by the use of cement with increased activity and slow mobility of concrete mix. Under these conditions the cement requirements are between 4,110-500kgs per rc% Sizes of the aggregate depend on the proximi-t-y of the ratnforcemeat bars and the thickness of the product, Careful grarnalat:.:)n of aggregates is required. Table I gives values for hardening under controlled curing conditions during a three mont~z period fo:6~ concrete of various mixes and speci-f-ic welght:F. Figure 2 illustrates graphs of the moduli of elasticity of test cubes made from fine aggregate concrete and their crushing strengths. Figure 3 is a graph of the relationship of shrinIcing values of testing cubes based on small aggregate concrettand the tire (24*hours) Figuze 4 illustrates a similar graph but taken over a Deriod of 5 manths. Figure v illustrates a graph of the "sluggishness" of fine- aggregate concrete Table 3 gives values for the "aluggishnesall of tested concretes during a period of 145 days when th concretes were subjected to red central compression of 60kgs per cm These values were compa. with those of I.I. Ulitskiy and I.A. Runinov as Published in Beton i Zhelezobeton 1956. No. 12. According to K.S.
