There is an auxiliary field meter also positioned in a standards correlated place in the space to be investigated with a level discri- minator for leading off signals indicating the deviations of the value of field in- tensity in the standard place or position from the desired and controlled levels and a transmitter output regulator. A transmission channel transmits the deviation signal from the discriminator to the regulator which controls the transmitter output in such a way that in the steak, state the deviation equals zero. Sechenov, Gigiyena Truda i Professionallnyye Zabolevaniya, Vol 1, No 1, Jan/Feb 57, pp 24:31 Briefly reviews research work done in the USSR and abroad which estab- lished that thiuram (mercaptobenzothiazole) and captax (tetramethylthiuravdi- sulfide), chemicals widely utilized as organic accelerators in the vuleaniza-' tion of rubber, are toxic substances which adversely affect the human or- ganism. Obbervations by the author established: (1) in the processes of production and application of tbiuram and captax, dust was released by these substances which polluted the air of the areas in which the chemicals were hand-led; (2) medical examinations of the workers who were exposed to the action of the chemicals revealed disturbances of the central nervous system, upper respiratory organs, the organs of vision, the liver, and the cardio- vascular system; (3) acute and chronic thiuram intoxication produced dis- turbances of the central nervous system, changes in the composition of the blood, 'and changes in the dystrophic processes of the liver, kidneys, and heart; (4) similar disturbances were caused by captak intoxication; captax also caused disturbances in the gastrointestinal tract. TITLE: Catalytic Vapor-Phase Hydration of Propylene Into Isopropanol PERIODICAL: nimiclieskaya promysh'.'ennost', 1959, Nr 5, PP 385-387 (USSR) ABSTRACT: The optimum conditions for vapor-phase hydration of propylene (1) into isopropanol (II) with the aid of phosphoric acid catalysts were investigated on a pilot plant together with the IXhF AS USSR (Ref 4) and subsequently on an experimental plant (capacity; I t of (11)/24h). The kinetics of this reaction was already investigated by N.M. Chirkov and V. I. Tsvetkova (Ref 3) The scheme of the pilot plant used here is given in figure 1 from which it may be so-or, that the fraction of prbpylene (with a minimum of 8%1yvchne0))1smix-_d with the vapor condensate in the ratio (0-7-1): 1 and reaches the reactor at 170-1600. After - condensation of,(II) the mixture again passes through the planto The oondensate contains 15-18% by weight (11). Coarse-pored silica gel (porosity 65%) saturated with 50% orthophosphoric acid (III)(first quality according to GOST 10114-39) was used as Card 1/2 a catalyst (C). The bulk weight of the (C) amounted to 0-72kg/L Catalytic Vapor-Phase Hydration of Fropylene Into Isopropanol sov/64,59-5-4/28 the (III)-content to 41-5% by weight* The equilibrium constant of the reaction was computed according to VvedenBkiyls equation (Ref 6). The follo5ng optimum conditions were found: Temperature 170-180 , pressure 9-11 atm, volume velocity of M 500-650 hours-1, molar ratio (watert W = (0-7-1) : 1, concentration of (I) in gas 80-90%. Under optimum conditions the conversion of (I) to (11) amounts to 5-6,ro' for one passage with an efficiency of 96%. There are 2 figures and 6 references, 5 of which are Soviet. The device described (Fig. 1) is a combination-of photocathode$ a control (separation) system for the photoelectronsp and an electron multiplier. Its operation is based on the dependence of-the photoemission of electrons on the quantum energy. The instrument cal also determine direcdy the wavelength of mono.- chromatic ;adiation. In order to facilitate location of faults at the author's works cable transformers have been made up of steel from. defective current transformers and installed on all outgoing cables near the busbars. For speech signals (aecond zerie3~ 'he first cr'.-~erion of Intei-ial perception is unreliable when time is le.-s thaii 150 milliseconds. So interval perception up to 200 milliseconds is largely determined by the nature of the signal itself rat'ller than by its duration. Metally, no. 2, 1966, 131-136 TOPIC TAGS: titanium alloy, oxygen, metal phase system / VT15 titaq1tun alloy ABSTRACT: Since an admixcure of oxygen, which is an -( stabilizer, should,, ,lave a 1, pronounced effect on the stability of the supercooled P phqse in titan lloys, it appeared of interest to determine the Influence of oxyge~'V~U the decomposition of the 9 phase in the thermally hardened titanium alloy WIT Ontaining 0.08, 0.16, 0.34, and 0.53% 02. The decomposition kinetics were studie-d-Ty- Mans of metallographic and dilatometric analyses and hardness measurements. The starKof an Increase In hardness was taken as the start of separation of the o( phase. tAs the oxygen content .of the alloy Increases, the supercool-ed--#--phase becomes less Itable, and the incuba- tion period of a-phase separation is shortened at all temperatures; the OC -phase formations become more and more dispersed, and there is a rise in the temperature of transition from uniform decomposition throughout the volume of the fl grains to local- ized decomposition starting at the grain and subgrain boundaries. Oxygen decreases Card 1/2 UDC: 669.295 L 38973-66 ACC, NR1 AP6013366 01, the amount of w phase In VT15 alloy, raises the temperature corresponding to the maximum volume decrease in Isothermal holding of the supercooled P phase, and has only a very slight effect on the incubation period of 4)-phase formation. The sub- grain boundaries In VT15 alloy appear during the decomposition of the P phase in the 350-550*C range, and as the oxygen content increasesp the subgrains show up In the majority of grains.
